Left handed AR

I am left handed. I use a normal AR. I personally wouldn't waste my money on a left only model. I suggest you try out a normal AR15 first before purchasing a lefty model if you haven't done so already. Shell ejection is not a issue. Looking for a model with ambi controls will be the only real need if any. I haven't even bothered doing that either.

As a fellow southpaw, I fully endorse this comment.

I have the Stag Arms Model 1 L and Love it. Do I need it left handed.... NO but i prefer it that way and if it supports the development of other Left Handed products then I choose to buy them. I Get tired of people saying just shoot right. I get my right handed friends to shoot my left handed AR and they always come back to me..... now I understand why you bought left eject. I can shoot right handed AR's I prefer not to.

Alot of righthand AR's already come with ambi selectors. Righthand eject vs lefthand eject makes no big difference to me. Shot both but I went with a Colt 6920 (righty).

If you go with a lefthand AR you are now running a AR with nonstandard parts (bolt) and could run into trouble with finding spares. Lefthand AR's were a answer to a non problem really. A righthand AR with ambi controls will shoot just as good for you as a left and will serve you better in the longrun with the easy availability of standard parts for repair.

I am a lefty with a righty AR. I have a Raptor charging handle, a BAD ASS, and a Magpul BAD and I am good to go.

As a lefty shooter, why do you need to clutter up the left side controls with a BAD lever? You're better off dropping the BAD and picking up a Norgon ambi mag release instead. :)

I am left handed and have been shooting AR's for ...wait for it....25 plus years! Once you add an ambi mag release you are set. It is required for when you are slung up shooting competition and it is impossible to get your right hand off of the handguard and back to the mag release. With an ambi mag release, you get to use your trigger finger, just like the right handed people do. Even the cheap ($ 600 to $ 700) Chinese guns come with ambi mag release and safety already installed.

speaking of ars , what is up with all the operators mounting the stock high on the shoulder instead of tucked into the nest or crook as I was taught?- is it because the helmet or the way the sights are employed?- every time you see a squad deployed, they've all got the bottom so that the stock tucked into the top of the shoulder- I don't care whose agency it is- did I miss something?

Lack of (or incestuous) training and a good enough attitude will result in people who think they are awesome doing things poorly.

not an answer- I've seen our cf guys doing the same thing- in a squad deployment single file- right hand on pistol grip, left had forward of the mag well, and the alignment of the shoulder is with the bottom of the recoil buffer tube instead of being tucked in- the top of the tube goes over the shoulder

to see what I mean , take a look at youtube us marines firing the m4 carbine like a boss = I reject your poor training
explaination
it's also illustrated on wiki "how to shoot an assault rifle , step 12-13( their words, NOT MINE- I call the thing a mouse gun- perhaps this is the reason so many people are complaining about the recoil of the 223- it's the training and all this time( since 82 or so I've been believing that such people were "pussies"- without the gun snuggled into place like it SHOULD BE of course your recoil is going to be greater as there's nothing there to stop it

i'm a lefty and i bought my first stag lefty recently wanted one for years (basically since the company's inception) and got a good deal on the EE. Now to be clear, i learned how to shoot on normal guns, I was trained on a righty AR, spent a lot of time on a righty, if i was to go to war tomorrow i'd take a righty... But as a left handed person, I really wanted a Stag, the rarity of purpose built left handed products is super frustrating.. be it scissors, note books, guns, etc. so yea there is a novelty to it. It makes me think of the Leftorium from The Simpsons and Flanders would totally rock a stag. If your a blank slate go for a normal AR if its something you really want, go for it, ignore all the naysayers.

I have a lefty stag with an ambi safety, norgon, BCM ambi charging handle and love it. By the way the lower is standard righty so only the upper is lefty. Sure you can use a right eject AR just fine but if you want a lefty, go for it!

BLASPHEMY

According to 95% of the people on CGN he would be a pussy for not wanting brass to be flying by his face if he is shooting with both eyes open.
The other thing to consider is if there is a catastrophic failure of some type and there is an out of battery discharge (even though in theory it should never happen) I'd rather have my face on the side that has no ejection port.
