I think it's time we reconsider the issue of sound suppressors and view them as they do in some European countries not to mention the US as well.. With two of the once rural ranges where I shoot now facing possible closure or non renewal of lease on land due to "new" neighbors noise complaints immenent, it is time to reconsider the sound suppressor. Several European countries , Belgium being one I believe, do not allow hunting within a certain proximity to towns without some form of noise suppression. Maybe we should get together as a group and lobby that suppressors are appropriate for range use AND hunting!

Not going to happen, we have a Liberal government. Suppressors are evil Hollywood death machines. Kittens die when near them. Seriously, the conservatives did not allow this, what makes you think the liberals are going to allow it. What is this mental masturba....:jerkit:

Plus they have the top priorities ie legalizing pot, end Canadas so fall "mission" in syria and Iraq.

But hey we can dream. More and more I want to move to texas

I'd be OK with at the least making it restricted as a range only toy. Don't ever see it happening though. We need alot more than 2 million shooters in Canada then a whole lot of them that support suppessor legalization, we just don't have that kind of number with which to force legislation change.

Would be nice though. I have one or two that would be much more pleasant to shoot with a suppressor.

Having lived in countries where suppressors are either unregulated, and can be bought over the counter for cash without showing any ID, or where they are allowed, serial numbered, and licenced to individual owners, I would like to see them available for civilian ownership here in Canada. My business licence allows me to manufacture, test, develop, modify, demonstrate, etc. so I don't personally have an issue, but there are still restrictions that I would like to see removed.

We just need to be careful what we ask for, and how we go about it. If we push the health and safety issues, we may get more than we wished for. Justin/Wendy/et al could say, OK, you want them to cut down on noise? Sure, go ahead, you just can't shoot a firearm without one any more. Oh, and if you can't afford one for each firearm, or they will not work on a particular firearm (revolver, shotgun, whatever), then you can't shoot that firearm, and if you can't shoot it, well, then there is no need to possess it, so hand it over.

Think that wouldn't ever happen? If they can use it to get rid of a few guns, they may just consider it. We need to be very careful how we go about this.

Regards.

Mark

We need to convince Liberals that suppressors are like Flesh-lights... bullets like to go in & out of it, resulting in more pleasant moments of Shooting!
