Does this actually work? I am going to give this a go the next time I hit the range. At 100 yards, how high above the POA will the POI be?

Try a 36m zero and try it at 100,200 & 300m

Agree. 36 meter first intersection zero for .223 and .308 iron sight or simple duplex. Stays within 4" above/below line of sight all the way out to about 350 meters.

Like Tenguns says, confirm your hits all the way out.

Interesting... I will definitely have to try this out. I will have to wait until after I move though, the spotting scope already got packed and moved. Thanks!

Run it through your ballistics calculator!

With most AR heights you're as much as 10 inches high at 300 yards, and don't hit "zero" again till right around 450. For me a 25 yard zero is a great way to shoot over things.

Holy sight height batman. That means your sight's almost 3 inches above bore?

My hieght over bore on my tavor is almost 4 inches haha. 100 yard zero is the only thing that works. Bullets actually still on its way "up" at 100. Hits about a half inch low at 200 then 4" low at 300

If I sighted in at 50 I'd be way high at 100, 25 yard zero would be dangerous haha!

Geeeez. I'm not an AR guy (by cost, not choice) so I've never really considered the extreme sight heights you guys use. That's crazy. I like my low sights and knowing that my bullet will be plus or minus 2 inches from 1 to 250 yards. Point and shoot.

Oh well. Good to know. Eases my jealousy a bit ;-)

The shorter the range, the more error in counting the actual distance and the precision of the true POI.

50m is really the absolute minimum for anything that you can rely on if you are planning to go out to 200m.

10m is really only good for putting the sight on paper.

Good point. I mean, I have a 300yd range. It's just that it is currently covered in snow and I'm lazy. The less I have to trudge around out there the better! I'll use this to get me on the target at 10 and then fine tune from there at 50 and 200.

Well...+/- 4" still is point and shoot for what the tavor is designed for. I only shoot paper cross hair targets when first sighting in. I dont notice it when I'm in the pits. Things tend to just get a lot of holes in them and go boom

Even my 1/2 moa bot gun I'd rather shoot paint cans and propane tanks than a paper target
