So I just recently bought a Tavor and I am beyond excited to go shoot it when it gets in from the mail..

But, I am left handed so I was wondering if i could easily shoot the Tavor in the stock right handed configuration?(without eating brass)
Or should I go buy a left handed bolt...If so where can I get one?

Also, Do I need a left handed bolt if i just want to change the charging handle/safety to the other side? Sorry if that seems like a noob question lol.
Or do I only need a left handed bolt if i want to change the ejection port to the left side?

Thanks!

Please feel free to give me any other tips/tricks on the tavor.

Posting a link to the manual doesn't really answer any of my questions, it only makes things harder lol.. But thanks anyways.

I'm really just wondering if i need the left handed bolt to change the charging handle/safety, or is the left handed bolt only needed for switching the ejection side?

Well, not being familiar with the Tavor I too would suggest the rtfm too.
But, leave the BFH in the tool box, you'll only make it worse.
Have you tried u Toobe for the information you are looking for?
Had a CXStorm and reading the fcuking manual only made it worse...the Toobe made it simpler.

my wife shoots my tavor 99% of the time
Tavor is right handed config
Wife is a leftie
If she can do it bro, you can do it.
The ones that tell you different well they are what we call pusseys.

I like how OP asks if he can shoot his Tavor left-handed and he gets rude, snippy responses telling him to convert his Tavor to left-handed configuration. Great help, guys! Anyway, as L1911 posts, MAC gave the topic of shooting it off the left shoulder some coverage in the video below.

If you want to keep things simple and run the charging handle on the left, you will need a new case deflector or you will eat brass. I've had the casings go back into the chamber and cause a jam also.
Another CGN member, who is also a leftie Tavor owner, told me about this. I ordered it but it hasn't arrived yet. He says it works well. For $20 all in, cheap to try.

So I can swap the charging handle to the left without needing a left handed bolt? And this is just an improved shell deflector that redirects the shells better?

Thanks guys.. learning more every day :)

Your charging handle should already be on the left correct? And, yes, the product is suppose to deflect the brass forward. As I said, I haven't got mine yet but this was what I was told.

If your charging handle is on the right, then you already have a left hand model.
My right hand model has the charging handle on the left.

Sorry i meant to say right**** lol.. I should be able to swap it to the right without a left handed bolt correct?

And i see, but in this video he shoots .223 and the brass skims his chin, but the 5.56 he shoots is deflected more forward, missing him completely..

Seems like the best solution is to use 5.56 lol

You can use the same charging handle and you don't need a left hand bolt as long as you don't switch the ejection port to the left. I've not done this myself but apparently you need to remove the barrel to do this.

Here's a link for confirmation.

PS Get the deflector. So you won't have to worry about ammo choices!

Charging handle and safety are independence of the bolt. You will have to pull the barrel to move the charging handle to the right side. When installing the lefty bolt you just need to change out the shell deflector and ejection port cover.

But seriously though, get a left handed bolt already. Otherwise you will eat allot of brass. Any vendor that sells IWI products should be able to order a bolt for 230$ i think it is now. Or contact the IWI importer, North Sylva in Toronto for one.
