asking for opinions on these two riffles

For that money you can buy a Like New VX-2 3-9X40 off the EE... a better option on a better scope IMO.

I wouldn't pay $380 for a used scope that's $420 brand new from cabelas.

A VX-2 is a great option, though.

I couldn't tell you if a Monarch 3 was better or worse than a VX-2, though. I could tell you my opinion, but I couldn't tell you for a fact :)

ok, here's another question. I found that browning does make a .308 AB3 hunter for around 670$. Anyone knows where around Calgary I can find this? Everywhere I go they say they don't carry. (cabela, bass pro, wholesale). They also make this combo which I can't find anywhere (AB3 Redfield Scope Combo with ABS Case for 740$). in USD$

Any help of where I can find this would be great thanks!!

I can't say "for a fact" either, but I can give an informed opinion as I have owned and used both... the VX-2 IS a better scope... better and smoother adjustments, better overall fit and finish, better clarity and low light function, better POI retention. I had two Monarch's crap out on me... CS was a pain. I only own Leupold's now.

The monarch I own from about 15+ years ago works perfect and has great glass!! Haven't tried any of the newer numbered versions though.

I'm a huge leupold fan. I have 6 or so. That said, I just bought a monarch 3, and the fit and finish is as good as my VX-3s, the zoom adjustment is smoother than my VX-6, and the clarity is right up there. Clicks seem nice and positive, too.

I've got to give the monarch one big point: consistent eye relief. The eye relief at 2.5X is 4", and the eye relief at 10X is 4". None of my old VX-2s, or any of my VX-3s do that. You have to move your head slightly for all zoom settings on my Leopold scopes.

My VX-6 has consistent eye relief, but it costs 3 Monarchs.

Customer service with Leupold is fantastic, naturally.

Cheers!
