Apparently I am a Fudd and proud of it.For that I make no apologies,least of all to some tacticool,mall ninja,wanna be operator types that are 1/2 my age,been playing with firearms for 1/10th as long as I have,many of whom being a bunch of paper killers that have never punched a single hole in their life into anything that bleeds.
It gets a wee bit tiresome seeing the term "Fudd" tossed about in a derogatory manner,most recently witnessed multiple times in the locked thread,481 post .50 BW topic,and somewhat ironically,it's the tacticool crowd complaining of the Fudds willingness to toss them under the bus.....seriously??
Really is it any wonder that the the so-called Fudds don't really givachit about you and your 4 rail accessorized toy soldier toys when your community consistantly puts forth a superiority attitude of being the "real" gun enthusiasts,the experts on all things tacticool as if that is some sort of #### measuring contest criteria?
You might want remember that us "Fudds" likely account for over 90%(?) of the the CDN firearms owners community,and pizzing off close to 2 Million hunters with derogatory terms that stink of an air of superiority might not be the best tactic for gaining support on firearms issues.We're ALL in this together,wether your an avid 3 gun competitor,or like many many many tens of thousands of Canadian hunters,a 3 gun owner that owns a deer rifle,a shotgun,and a .22lr that covers all of his hunting and firearm requirements from mice to moose and everything in between.
It just gets really old is all,esp. when I see some 22yr old kid that went to see American Sniper last year and is now all of a sudden a black gun enthusiast/expert beaking off about Fudds,while many of us Fudds have been out actually killing stuff since before your mother was born.
If it wasn't for the voting strength of us 2 million CDN Fudds,the politicos would have squashed the evil black gun enthusiasts decades ago.....remember you only make up a small fraction of the CDN firearms community.
Please think about that the next time you feel the need to proclaim your superiority of knowledge and all things firearms over the average CDN hunter/gun owner that's often times likely killed as many or more living,breathing mammals this fall as you have in your entire wanna be operator life.

FWIW,aside from being a lifelong hunter/trapper/guide/outdoorsman/gun enthusiast that's killed over 100 big game animals and unknown THOUSANDS of small game,game birds and furbearers over a span of 4+ decades,I also enjoy plinking with my my evil black rifles with "pistol" mags,and actually hunting varmints/coyotes with my "for now" non-restricted semis,so I do in fact have a dog in this fight.....it just gets to be a ill' old and tiresome to see how the term "Fudd" gets tossed around within this sub-forum in particular.We're ALL in this fight against the Libtards together....alienate the hunting community with disrespect and derogatory terms and comments,and you won't stand a hope in hell of hanging on to your toys.

I don't care what guns one owns as long as you see them as FREEDOM and are a responsible person with them.

I also don't care if you call me Ray, RJ, RJJ or RJJ Jr..........or Fudd, Tacticool, 'merican, Yank, etc.

I married a Canadian(woman)and consider all gun owners both sides of the border brothers and lovers of freedom. The sooner we all see it the same, the better.
 
Why did you post your rant in this forum? Not every black rifle owner uses the term "fudd", many new shooters don't even know the term, and more importantly, not everyone who owns a black rifle has the feelings you describe.

You are just as guilty of discrimination as those you are condemning. This should be discussed in the General Firearm Discussion Forum. I can't imagine what a brand new firearm owner must think of the entire community when the first thing they read is a rant like yours.
 
You're not a Fudd if you recognize that people do not "need" to hunt in order to "need" a gun, and that perfectly valid guns exist outside the hunting realm, and that prohibiting Gun "A" today means the it'll be Gun "B" tomorrow. You're also not a Fudd if you've never repeated the senseless, moronic chant "hand guns have only one purpose, to kill people, that's all they're made for"

If you don't, don't, don't and do, I don't give a damn how much meat you've lockered, what you do or don't own, or how many of you there are - if mine go, I'll make it my business to ensure that yours go. I've been shooting for 40 years, and I've never seen American Sniper or played HALO. Just so we understand each other.

Your not even close to a fudd. I met you and I know your not. Fudds can be from any walk of life, age, race, and can prefer any type of firearrm or shooting activitie/purpose.

What makes a fudd is the fact that they are willing to throw others under the bus to save thier type of firearms instead of standing and fighting the fight together.

Basically what happened in '93.
 
Can tell from this post you're not a fudd. You are coming off like kinda a douche though. The guys you're complaining about are uh...well they're y'know...they're them. There's a lotta people around here whose posts i kinda skip over is what I'm drivin at. Learn to do that.
 
I never ever heard of the term FUDD until I started on this site. I have black and traditional rifles.

Now through the "power of deduction" I have....I want to know this.

Why does the black rifle crowd need to gain support of the traditional rifle crowd? They should already have it.

Isn't that why the term was originated? Because of a group of traditionalists who looked to preserve their firearms by pointing the finger at the blacks?

I have a problem with people who have a problem with my choice of firearms or accessories that I own.

If you don't have any single whatsoever problem with any of the firearms or accessories I own or how I use them, or play dress up, then my friend carry on.

this is exactly it. Why do they continuously prefer to point fingers and undermine us rather than stand with us.

Every transgression against the black rifle and pistol crowd allows gun control to get that much closer to them. Right now they are almost unscathed. Do they want to feel equal pain to the black rifle crowd? No? Well then they need to get behind us and stop saying "but you don't need ###x"

Ummmmm.....because this is the sub-forum where the term Fudd is most often tossed about,almost as if anybody that doesn't hold an RPAL,doesn't participate in 3-gun or any other organized competitive shooting,or doesn't subscribe to Soldier of Fortune is somehow considered to be an insignificant Fudd by many within the Black Gun crowd?
....and I never said EVERYBODY here uses the term,nor that EVERYBODY holds those feelings.....jest sayn......calling people Fudds and/or dismissing hunters as irrelevant hillbillies is counterproductive to any sense of solidarity within the firearms community,just the same as hunters calling 3-gun competitors "wannabe operators" serves no purpose other than the Leftard agenda of divide and conquer.

Tell ya what.....when the SHTF on CDN soil and in our very own hockey cul de sac suburban streets,as I have no doubt it inevitably will sooner then later in these uncertain times of world changing politics,and we REALLY need to pull together to survive......you provide the security,and I'll provide the protein. ;)

Again the term fudd refers to an attitude that is "mine are better than yours so I dont care if yours get banned"

Would you prefer to call them traitors? Hypocrites perhaps?

Fudd is often tossed around loosly and misused by the uninformed.

Fudd is the most accurate in my opinion as it denotes that they are gun owners willing to undermine themselves trying to appeal to the masses.

I know what you're saying and I agree that the term needs to be dropped if we are ever going to unite all gun owners. I am both hunter and black rifle fanatic, I don't understand why anyone with any brains would ever throw any other gun owner to the wolves. Everyone needs to realize that the anti's want to take away all guns not just black rifles, they don't think we need to hunt and don't understand that there is any enjoyment to be had by sport/recreational shooting and think the only people that should have a gun is police and military. What the anti's and Libtards fail to realize is that taking guns from my safe does nothing to take guns out of the hands of criminals.

I don't know how we will ever unite all gun owners in order to preserve or maybe even gain back some our rights to firearms and the right to enjoy whichever type of shooting floats our individual boats. We can't seem to go a day without insulting one another on our own website. Just look at any of the controversial threads on here and watch people turn on and attack their fellow gun owners over a slight difference of opinion. What's going to happen when the anti's and gov really take a run at us? They'll simply suggest a ban on something and then sit back and watch us implode fighting ourselves. We make it so easy for them.

I agree with this statement! Please realize that the term "fudd" is usually used to define someone that does NOT think like this. The "fudds" are the ones that do NOT think we are all in this together and feel that all black rifle owners are only wannabe tacticools and that all black "scary" rifles should be banned. I did a search for the word "Fudd" in this forum, and your thread was the first that popped up. I checked a couple of other threads, and the term fudd was used by members who self-identified themselves as ex-fudds.

There's a nice little discussion in the General forms about the term Fudd, and I'm not sure you qualify as a fudd, as many here have pointed out. Unless of course you think that pistols and restricted firearms should be banned? Do you fit this category? If not, you do not meet he criteria of a Fudd.

It's true, a couple of morons who own black rifles may also get the definition incorrect, categorizing all hunters as Fudds, but that is why there is a discussion in the General Forum about it.

And as a Reservist in the Canadian Forces, if SHTF on Canadian soil, it is very possible I would be participating in the provision of security to some degree. Thanks for the offer, I'd much rather eat freshly slaughtered meat than IMPS any day of the week :)

So you don't know what the definition of a Fudd is but just assumed it was being leveled at you and so took offense to it and flew off the handle to post a big rant regarding something that truthfully does not apply to you. Nice going.

I keep hearing that the term Fudd is being applied to people simply because they only hunt or don't own any black guns. I'd like to see just one example of that having occurred on this board. Just one from a recent discussion will do.

As to your rant. A true Fudd deserves all the ridicule they get. Any gun owner happy to throw fellow gun owners under the gun control bus is a class-A douche.
 
A Fudd is a gun owner, typically a hunter, who vilifies other gun owners - either they are deluded enough to think throwing black rifle owners under the bus will win favour with liberal legislators, or they genuinely believe that black rifles have no place in civilian hands. They are our worst enemy and deserve derision.

This is why you're not a Fudd. I honestly don't think there's many real fudds these days. We're rapidly reaching a time where most shooters have now grown up around black rifles, and understand that this is just how firearms have evolved with new technology.

And just about all hunters understand nowadays that their harmless hunting rifle will never be banned - because they'll call it a sniper rifle first.
