Awesome rant. Hope you got that off your chest, and feel better. Had a smaller post myself, someone pointed out that i had a classical taste in firearms. Different from the "F" word.
IMO, threads that bring up the "F" word are useful in that they point out the behavior we all detest. Sometimes guys with classical tastes are called the "F" word in a overreaction, but if it highlights the behavior we want changed....hey i have thick skin.

Ummmmm.....because this is the sub-forum where the term Fudd is most often tossed about,almost as if anybody that doesn't hold an RPAL,doesn't participate in 3-gun or any other organized competitive shooting,or doesn't subscribe to Soldier of Fortune is somehow considered to be an insignificant Fudd by many within the Black Gun crowd?
....and I never said EVERYBODY here uses the term,nor that EVERYBODY holds those feelings.....jest sayn......calling people Fudds and/or dismissing hunters as irrelevant hillbillies is counterproductive to any sense of solidarity within the firearms community,just the same as hunters calling 3-gun competitors "wannabe operators" serves no purpose other than the Leftard agenda of divide and conquer.

Tell ya what.....when the SHTF on CDN soil and in our very own hockey cul de sac suburban streets,as I have no doubt it inevitably will sooner then later in these uncertain times of world changing politics,and we REALLY need to pull together to survive......you provide the security,and I'll provide the protein.

Obviously I have no knowledge of what set this rant off, but can I sugget everybody relax and forget about it?
While I agree on many aspects of the rant, we are all gun owners and need to be united, everybody is entittled to their use/ownership, etc for guns.
Few things that do bother me.
1) I gaurantee a very insignificant percentage of this subforum are 3G competitors. I know because I am one.
2) You are no better saying your killings make you better or warrant your gun ownership.
3) If you are around Calgary or southern Alberta, come out to a 3G event. You can use all my gear. It incorporates all types of a people. Good people. Hunters to GI Joe people.
I support the right/want to have any and all kind of firearms one's heart desires, and if everyone felt the same way, there would be no "FUDD" attitude to criticize. But tell me I don't "need" an AR-15, "assault" rifles and Mini-14's should be banned because you don't hunt with them, then ya, I have a problem with you.

This is the exact opposite of a fudd. This is anti-fudd. A fudd is not you. When the term fudd is used, unless it's being misapplied to you, then you shouldn't get offended, because what you say here is decidedly not fudd. It's the opposite, it's pro-gun.
I think you're mistreating the black gun crowd a bit for their dislike of fudds, but that doesn't make you a fudd. You're far too erudite to be a fudd anyway. Maybe just stop picking a fight with the black gun crowd?

My Neighbors who is a hunter and could not give 2 chits about black guns get banned, he said to me only the police and army should have pistols and black rifles...
I asked why? he said you don't need them hunting...and he hope they get banned because we black gun ownners give all gun owners a bad image.

Yup, you're only a true Fudd if you throw other shooters under the bus... I might argue that some of the Mall Ninja crowd qualify as Fudds because they're willing to discount the wood gun crowd.

You do realize that this sentence right here....where you say you own and enjoy black rifles makes you a totally non fudd?
Well my mistake it seems,all this time I've assumed Fudd was directed at non-black gun enthusiasts/hunters.
Honest mistake,being as any(every?)time I've ever seen the term used,it's to the best of my memory been used by a black gun enthusiast in describing a hunter?
A previous post asked for a recent example.......Fudd was used multiple times(6-8x at least?)in the 480 post Beiwulf .50 thread this week,sorry but I have neither the time nor energy to search and read that entire thread again,but if I'm not mistaken,it was used by one of the very same members that have responded here?
And again,I do in fact own a cpl baby killer,semi auto,battle platform,assault rifles or whatever the proper term for them is these days,albeit of the non-restricted flavor.Actually I find it kinda ironic and at the same time more then a bit disturbing that according to the MSM,I own "assault rifles",but if the same rifle is mounted in a police cruiser it is now a "patrol carbine"....WTF is up wit dat??Nevermind....rhetorical question,I'm well aware of how the Leftard media operates on full time spin cycle.
Thx for the offer,yes I'm in CGY and would love to play 3-gun,it looks like a blast(obvious pun intended)....unfortunately my casual interest in 3-gun is overwhelmingly trumped by my complete and commited lack of interest in jumping thru yet more legal hoops and inviting even further government intrusion into my bedroom for the sake of obtaining an RPAL.Perhaps if the govt came to their senses and would allow me to pack a sidearm while flyfishing in grizzly country I might feel differently?
At the end of the day,again,my mistake,in light of my new understanding of the definition of a Fudd,it would appear I'm not a Fudd after all,just a guy that likes and owns guns....lots of guns....all types of guns....practical guns,fun guns,precision guns,HD and battle guns....but if I had to pigeon hole myself,I'd guess I'd say I identify myself more so as a hunter then an operator.....that said,when the SHTF,with 40+ years of avid hunting of both predators and prey under my belt,I've learned a thing or two about shooting straight,shooting fast,survival,evade and escape,and hiding in plain sight.....jest sayn.

Well the definition of the term seems to change, and is always stated differently in every thread about it. To me "the fudds" are the purist hunter types who hate on everything they don't like or approve of. The type that come up to you at the range to educate you on what they decided you're doing wrong. Or point out ignorant things that don't matter. Or call down those with different tastes in firearms and equipment. The real life Elmer Fudds. But depending on who you ask, the definition is whatever that person feels the term means. Like the N word. To some, its just slang for their buddies. To others its a disgustingly hateful racist slur coming out of the mouth of a vehemently racist elitist. The trick is to not care what other people call you but do what you feel is right and let the haters sort out all the unimportant, unconsequencial details about what they don't like about you.
