So, was just able to take my set screw off - have ordered some shims to tighten up
the gas lock on my norc. Seems the previous owner stripped the set screw,
was hoping someone would have an extra or be able to tell me where to source
one.

Thanks,

Aaron

I apologize if I sound confused, but are you looking for the set screw for the actual front blade sight, or flash hider (to hold the castle nut still).

Is it factory Norinco flash hider or SA?

I have some for SA if yours is 6-40 UNF pm your address I can put a few in the mail for you Monday.

So.
I can bury my flash hider again from whenst it came because you don't need the screw anymore? My wife isn't happy with it sitting on the kitchen table. Doesn't match the Christmas decor.

I can send a couple of Nork take offs your way, you could make a pretty awesome centre piece....... Or a pen holder.....

If your missus is anything like my missis, she will still likely be "unimpressed"....

This is why I am not offering my help as much anymore. Guy asks for help, you offer, he disappears.

Agreed.

Peoples post an ad in EE looking for something send them a PM point them to the right direction but never receive a simple reply never mind a thank you note! Sigh.......

That sucks man. I actually may need one of these parts, but I'm not going to ask for one or post a WTB up in EE until I know for sure. The previous owner of a Norc M14 sold it to me without the flashhider/front sight post. It only came with the castle nut threaded on to the end of the barrel. I ordered a Springfield Armory M1a brake but I have no idea if it comes with the set screw or castle nut. I'm hoping it does.

It doesn't. You have to order the set screw and the castle nut separately.

You can use the castle nut that came with your Norinco.

Phuk. Ok, got the castle nut, so need the set screw for the Springfield. I see that on Brownell's website for $1.99, please tell me it's not an ITAR controlled item.

Brownells will charge you $25 shipping for that one screw. See if you can get it from someone up here

Bloody hell, it even costs $7USD to ship within the US....not a huge deal in the grand scheme of things, but Brownells must be getting some sort of kick-back when it comes to shipping, lol!

Does anyone know if the Norc set screw work in the Springfield muzzle brake?

Thanks!
