Just got 450 44-40 for .15rd., 450 45 colt and 300 44 mag for $28. Not sure of the mag or the 44-40 but could not pass as I can use more colt. The funny part I was talking to him about 22 Hornet and 218 Bee.

I'd say you did just fine. The .44-40 at 15 cents per case is a bit under half of what new Starline brass is going for. And the bulk price on the .45Colt and .44Mag is certainly a "START THE CAR!" price if the brass hasn't been shot a whole lot of times to where the rims are flattening and mushrooming out.

Don't laugh you lot. I saw some .45Colt used for cowboy action loads where it was shot and reloaded so many times that the head stamp wasn't visible any longer and the rims had been beaten out so far by this flattening that they would not chamber properly any longer because the rims were touching each other on the back of a revolver cylinder so they would not lay fully into the chambers.

Score! Here's money, bye......

Holy flapdoodle! I just loaded some .44mag for the 8th time and it still looks like new.

Yep, she had been shooting the same few hundred rounds for a fair number of years. I was giggling in disbelief as I asked her how many times she had reloaded it. At that point she had been at it for around 7 or 8 years and only had something like 300 casings. She figured that they were reloaded and shot about every 6 weeks to couple of months consistently for the whole time. Now that's not a whole lot in the grand scheme of things. But the brass wasn't new when she got it. It came with the guns she had bought and was WELL used at that time.

I have 45 acp where the headstamp markings are not legible thru multiple reloads and I toss them when the cases split which is rare. Even though I shoot low pressure loads it is probably time to toss these cases.

I have a lot of cases like this. I use them for practice but when I shoot matches I switch to brass that has seen only a few firings.
