Bang for your buck, in a stainless / synthetic .270? Winchester Extreme Weather Model 70 if you can find one.
Ruger Hawkeye - American made, the benchmark for tough and working quality. Options and configurations from 16" detachable mag carbines with iron sights to stainless, left hand medium bore mags. Cheap, too in the grand scheme of things. Best floor plate release in the business, three position Model 70-esque wing safety, one piece bolt. Few words on this gun are required, they're stellar.
Winchester Model 70 - A legend at an everyman price. The most copied safety in the business, and CRF, the actions are used even by makers in five figure safari rifles. T3s admittedly, not so much. Smooth, fast, stupid reliable, machined flat bottom billet action with integral recoil lug. A glut of interesting models, my safe has a stainless / walnut 7mm-08 Featherweight, and a few Extreme Weathers, each purchased for 1/2 the price it would cost to custom build one. And the action is worthy of being custom built upon, that says a lot for a $1000 class rifle. Sadly as of now produced in Portugal, albeit of very high quality apparently though I only have US ones.
