Tell us about the Modern Magnum...

Redundant for me, because if the MM was 12lbs and kicked the hell out of me....i already have that in the Bar. Not redundant to you if you dont own one.

My thought was to get a MM in the 2.5" family, and a extra barrel in another caliber. A MM switch caliber rifle ....so to speak. Same case....same bolt head. The real issue would be to pick the calibers....maybe 7rm and 338....or 308 nm and 416 taylor.

All just a bunch of BS anyways....since ATRS has pretty much said no. Maybe they do it in the WSM family......7wsm and 325 wsm....would be cool.

I would like to see it in .338LM, but at this time its just a pipe dream and I have zero experience with calibers larger than .308, so my opinion is likely of zero value. I just want it in that caliber as I hope some day aquire a DTA to keep it company. :) all pipe dreams for far in the future though!
If they could build it and come in at a lower price than the one Alexander Arms already builds (Ulfberht)without sacrificing accuracy while reducing the weight, I am in.

DTA is very nice, nothing like it on the market and very well priced for what you get IMO

I shot a MH in .308. It was a very nice gun, very cool, but very heavy for much of the hunting I do in mountainous parts of BC. If you walked or drove or were on flat land it wouldn't be such a big deal.

It's a shame, cause if I'm truck/short walk hunting/shooting from the grassy knoll, I'm fine carrying my 14lb .338LM.... I am also looking for my unicorn - a 6lb, semi auto, tough, accurate, hard hitting, non restricted gun..... But right now the MH is the best answer.... And I'm guessing ATRS will offer a better answer on future.

I'll be honest - I've picked up my t3 lite recently and asked myself "why-TF am I spending 6000$ on a gun that's heavier, and carries less oomph than my 800$ tikka, and can only hold 5 rounds"..... It's because their f-Ing cool, period.

I think the best way for atrs to do a mm would be to do only 7mm rem 300 and 338 win and then complete gun minus barrel for people that want a less popular chambering. Sure a 375 chefield or 26 nosler would be cool but not profitable for them to produce.

The Nemo omen in 300 win weighs in at 9.2 pounds, presumably unloaded. Closest thing I can think of to the currently theoretical gun.

8.3 pounds for an unloaded BAR Safari

Add optics and the weight of a modern magnum that people are estimating doesn't seem unreasonable. I bet an 11lb 7mm or 300 win would be a soft shooter.

I'm never going to buy a modern hunter, varmint, anything in all likelyhood but a magnum model with 7mm rem mag, 338 win mag, and .458 win would be a crowd pleaser.

My Pm's back from ATRS, when i suggested the 2.5" family was them joking to call it the vintage magnum. But if they are going a belted magnum, why not the 2.5 " vs the same thing in a 2.85" case??

I would imagine that there would be a difference in recoil from a 458 to a 7 mag...so engineering a rifle that had the right springs ...buffers etc to take both as a switch barrel.....

It would all come down to economics for ATRS. The numbers of the MM are going to be less than either the MH or the MV. So i dont see them designing different magazines....springs...buffers.....fussing with feed issues....for 50 or 100 rifles...doesnt make economic sense.

Now that i think of it a WSM family rifle....that would be cool.

Yeah there would definitely be mechanical differences between the calibers. I don't even know if it is possible to switch barrels on Nemo Omen.

I'm imagining .300 win would meet the demand of most consumers.

If AR's were legal a sig MCX in Remington 30 AR would be your unicorn, mine as well. Unfortunately the people who imported it wanted it approved quickly even though it really is not an AR variant so it's dead in the water.

I propositioned ATRS for the MV in this caliber and it will not happen without interest. Not sure if their design would allow for a caliber conversion by anyone but themselves if their parts are proprietary

Well to quote the movie...the Rundown. What i was looking for was a Thunder and Lightning combination. A ultra fast magnum for deer in the South Province, and a Thunder for up north....Moose and the other hunters that like to eat them.

Suppose the solution would be two uppers....but Atrs has said they will not do this....and the cost would probably be basically the same as buying two rifles. A shame as the real cost would be less than one would think. I could legitimately sell about 10 rifles, that a thunder and lightning combination would cover.
