Win model 21 value?

Can't say I've seen a Beretta 409, Snipe or Silver Hawk with skip-line checkering. Back edge of action doesn't seem right and there appears to be a few too many action screws.
"Pietro Beretta, Gardonne, Brescia" should be distinctly marked on the barrels.

Certainly NOT a Model 21 !

The kid did a swing and a miss on this one, but that happens. On the bright side, if he's keen on a project he has the perfect donor there. The condition looks rough from the photos so if he wants to learn about refinishing it could end up very rewarding. If it locks up tight then it's safe to shoot so why not encourage him in that direction. So long as he is patient and goes slow (tough for millennials) he could have a nice product in the end.

Thanks, guys, I'm not sure what his plans are for the gun (keep it or not), but I hope to get some more info about markings and such. As I said earlier, I'm not into shotguns.

My apologies for the near-coronary-infarctions that I caused when I mentioned the sale of my own long-ago gun for a few hundred bucks. Looking through the moldering pile of receipts, memos and assorted other scraps of paper which I laughingly call my "records", I see that it was a model 24, not a 21. Mea culpa. :)

the gun in picture is not a model 24 either.
 
Yeah, thanks, I get that. I don't recall much about that old gun...it was about 30 years ago...but I recall that it didn't have an "Italian guy's name" anywhere on it. :)

Speaking of M21's, given how ugly those guns are and how overbuilt for hunting they are and how few people who are serious about it use a SxS for any of the clays games, it amazes me these things still command the money they do. The strength of the receiver was pure marketing hype that lives on to this day, performing little of use that isn't accomplished by all other quality receivers.


If I'm going to shoot an anachronism, I'd like it to be good looking. Good luck to those who have caught the bug. Glad I'm not one of them.

I will play for a minute The ones that bad mouth the 21 have clearly never owned one or took a good look at one. Plain and simple

You can still dream about them however ;) and keep saving your pennies and perhaps the mrs will sell you one when I pass
And yes pennies since mine will be sold state side in US dollars :)
