I got a dd v5 and I love it but I am not the biggest fan of the rail handgard, to me all these rails are useless and it adds unwanted weight. I like the keymods like the fortis and such. What I am wondering is wen you look at them there just so thin and rounded , they look like if you would sit on it it might collapse? ?

I have skinny woman hands, i shoot thumb forwsrd with my supporting hand, so I went with skinny light bcm and noveske keymods.

The keymod is robust and not flimsy or bendable without extreme effort. I have a sling stud in mine for a bipod mount and have hung the bipod with it extended numerous times and even with all that leverage nothing has bent.

if you buy a quality brand i.e. noveske, bcm, you wont have any problems, same goes with rail handguards.

Yes they are expensive, but you can always find a guy that has a few never used sitting on the shelf willing to part with one at a decent price.

My BCM keymod rail is lightweight but feels pretty strong. It doesn't flex like you'd think for something so light and skinny.

I agree with the BCM. I have a 13" BCM KMR keymod and its strong, slim and very light. It only weighs 7.7oz with the barrel nut. I got my hands on a V7 titanium barrel nut and installed that saving 1oz lol.. So 6.7oz with the nut installed.. And trust me its strong.

Correct the stripped down guards are in vogue. They are cleaner looking, lighter and believe it or not just as strong. The high level OEM engineers have donated a considerable amount of time during development.

you need a bcm?

No, its too fat for my girly hands.
I'm sticking to the Noveske NSR rails on all my ar's.
I'm also trying to make all the controls identical.
The Stag you see there is waiting on a BCM Gunfighter Mod 4 charging handle, and a Noveske STS 60 degree safety.
I just replaced the grip to another Magpul MIAD yesterday.
I waited nearly 2 years for that 16.7" NSR rail.

I'll second, third, or fifth the BCM KMR. It's rock solid mounted on my 10.5" AR.
Not to mention, what realistic possibility is it that your guns going to get run over by a tank, dropped out of an airplane, or sat on by Rosie O'donnel?

I went with the Bcm KMR 13.5 and 10" for both my AR.
KMR are rock solid, lightweight and have the perfect diameter for me. I'm not s fan of rails everywhere rant add weight and circumference.

I have an 11" CMMG keymod handguard. I too have small hands and love the feel of it. It's really strong I could probably jump on it and it wouldn't deform. The higher end branded handguards will serve you very well.
