LAR15 pistol mags not feeding properly- common issue?

I was shooting with 5x LAR15 pistol mags this weekend (7.62x39). Brand new mags and using surplus norinco ammo. 3 out of 5 mags worked well but I was having constant failure to feed stoppages with two of the mags.

The springs didn't seem like they were pushing the rounds up high enough to be caught by the bolt. Visually they looked normal and no discernible difference between the working mags but they simply wouldn't feed.

Is that a common issue with new LAR15 mags or perhaps 7.62x39 caliber LAR15 mags? Logically it seems like mag is the culprit but I haven't ruled out an issue with the bolt (which is new under 100 rds too).

I had issues with my .223 LAR mags until I replaced the followers with MagPul followers. The originals would often fail to feed or sometimes fail to hold the bolt open after the last round.

Two problems I've come across with those LAR15 mags are:

1) Bad followers. Solution: Replace with Magpul ones.
2) Front feed lip of the mags are too high. Try stripping off a round and see if it catches/hangs up on the feed lip of the mag. Solution: Grab a file or Dremel and remove about 1/16" to 1/8" material and retry.

I've had feeding issues with them as well. Try loading them full, and then leave them loaded for a week. Take the ammo out and reload them and start firing away. Works 50% of the time, all the time. Strong springs that need to be broken in.

Very strong springs in the LAR15/XCR pistol magazines, to help break them in I press the follower down with the a kitchen FORK to compress then decompress the springs, easier to press it down evenly that way.

Did that approx.....40-50 times with each of mine and they are still a bit stiff to get the last 2 rounds in but feeding is pretty much 99% now.

I have ALL of my magazines numbered so when I have a stoppage/failure of any sort I can take note of the exact symptoms with what magazine.

In what firearm are you using the magazines in?
