.270 vs .308 ?

I like the 270 WIN over the 308 WIN, better ballistics and in the Tikka T3 the 270 is a better fit as all the T3s are long action. As much as everyone says .277 bullets are less common, there are easily enough different bullets for any job the cartridge is suited.

Tikka guys... and LA guys in general, including .270 ahooters, are hairy-knuckled neanderthal types... what they gain in speed, they lose in style points... or rather, lack thereof.

Funny stuff.
One compares a 270 with 150's to a 308 with 180's.
Why?

I agree with Sir Douglas's opinion awn the 270........................ typing of which, where is he?

Normally I would say 308. But I recently discovered nosler makes 160gr .277 partitions. If your going to hand load they would be a very performing round.

When the zombies come and you're scraping off the ground for ammo it will be .308 all day long over .270

Right, and while you're talking with him, ask about the 23 shot group that he shot at 600 yd with his bullets in his 270-08. Just amazing!

Ted

Not surprising, I know Marshal well having shot F-Class with him and he is a superb shot..
I have to say that my own 270-08 is by far one of the most accurate rifles I have ever had..

Now that bullets are available in .277 up to 180 grain match, it's a poor excuse to say 308 has superior selection in regards to competition style bullets.

Either cartridge obviously will make medium size game like deer and moose etc. for all intended purposes, "dead", basically your asking which one will make it more dead. Buy what you think is right for you. As this discussion could go on for another 30 pages with still no decisive conclusion. To help you decide pour yourself a couple stiff shots of single malt scotch, name one .308 and one .270. Drink both. The one you enjoyed the best buy it. Then buy another bottle of what ever brand it really was and celebrate your new rifle.

Problem solved and you will feel much better.

Going to try and beat the thread in one post, and I'll fail, but I'll try:

-If you're inside 250 yards, doesn't matter.
-If you're beyond 250, or the possibility is likely, .270 all the way.
-If you want cheap FMJ for plinking, .308.
-If you live in Southern Ontario, .270.
-If you want bang flops, .270 has the edge.
-If you want to shoot a Bison with the smallest possible cartridge, either fits equally.
-If you shoot semis, then .308, as it is available in many good ones.
-If you want to shoot a T3, .270. But better yet sell the T3 and get a Winchester in .270.

Dang... you were so close.... LOL..... shots here are mostly under 100.....

-If you're inside 250 yards, .358.
-If you're beyond 250, or the possibility is likely, .300 WM all the way.
-you don't want to shoot cheap FMJ at any time.
-If you live in Southern Ontario, move to Northern Ontario.
-If you want bang flops, watch a Terminator movie.
-If you want to shoot a Bison bring a winch.
-If you shoot semis, then it's time for big boy pants.
-If you want to shoot a T3, or .270... then you are the aforementioned "hairy-knuckled neanderthal.

Thanks for your time...

Fixed it for ya...

Bahahaha.... That's funny right there....

As a side note, I'm thinking from the name that the OP is possibly a woman and wants a lower recoiling gun...

I like it ...

However, as you know, the VAST majority of hunters in Canada shoot under 250 (often quite a bit under). So, although within this range I agree it doesn't matter, given that I'd recommend the more popular caliber .... which is .308.
