Colt Canada IUR 15.7 PREMIUM CARBINE

Not to derail the thread or anything, but the hype around these rifles is making them sound like they're the holy grail of the AR platform being offered for pennies. Would this be a good choice for a newb's first AR vs. a Daniel Defence or XCR?

IMO .... Jump on this.

The 15.7 IUR is both a quality and accurate item.

Ugh lol...wish you told me it's overpriced garbage :p Hows the trigger in this puppy?

No better or worse than any of the premium brands. The stock triggers all feel about the same unless you upgrade to a Geisselle or Timney or something.
This Premium carbine offering is as good as it gets for the price point. If you want an AR, this is the deal now!

Comparing an AR to a XCR is like comparing apples to oranges. Restricted to NR, weight and length, accuracy and cost are all factors to consider.

My take on the matter as someone who just got in on this deal? DD is a great choice and would still probably be my first choice. However, given the US dollar and the price point for these rifles, I would pick up this in a heartbeat. Which I did.

Objectively speaking (and this will create some waves), I don't see any tremendous, practical difference between these rifles and DD.

I do own a DD rifle and I am not speaking out of turn.

How blemished is blemished? Anything I should be concerned about? Will the rifle come looking like a truck ran over it? Does anyone have a blemished CC rifle that can comment on it?

Mine had some chunks missing out of the top rail. And dents/chips here and there.
This is why I would like to know if the complete IURs now at SFRC have these "blem" uppers.

And I 100% agree with you!
DD and CC are both Tier one guns. I would be happy with either also.

I would take the CC over DD given you are pretty much getting the real deal and the current price point is pretty reasonable. And the IUR is pretty rad LOL.

I'll be passing on these rifles, if only as a minor protest to the devaluation of my IUR. Not that it matters, they'll all sell

Yup. They only did 150 up like this. The last 150 IURs. They'll sell quickly.

I guess I'll take some consolation in the fact that even if I didn't buy it in this package- nor at this price- I still have the Colt Canada goodness.

But it's really put me off any future, limited run offerings.

...at least until the BCG's and Colt Canada branded sights become available....

I have one one the way with the High Standard BCG and was wondering if you or anyone else had experience with them. Would there be a measurable difference in feel/accuracy from a CC BCG?

I have a High Standard bcg and it was actually better than I was expecting for what I paid for it. It was MP tested (not sure about HP tested).
It is highly unlikely that you would notice any difference between the two bcg's.

Thank you- good to know

Do you need to check headspace with the milspec BCG? I am hearing conflicting stories, but most are saying as long as it's high quality you don't. Just trying to get it right the first time, guys at CGN seem to generally know what's what.
