That gun was made by Cesare Peli, an independant artisan master gunsmith from the Gardone VT area. The receiver on that gun was hand engraved by Peli and featured a bedded deer scene on one side and a fighting deer seen on the other. The bottom of the gun has a grouse engraved on it, which was common on Peli guns. The stock on that gun was hand made and hand checkered by Peli himself. Prior to the recent recoil pad installion, the stock had a plastic buttplate with a white line spacer, as did the pistol grip end cap. When the buttplate was removed, it showed the chiesel marks made during the carving process. The gun has 30" barrels (F/M chokes) 3" chambers and shell ejectors. Overall it was a extremely well built gun designed to outlast its owner. The gun was inspected by a well known master gunsmith in the GTA who indicated that the gun was built off of a common GVT action and built to high quality standards not seen in many mass produced modern guns. As for value, the gun is not listed in any gun value book and is ultimately worth what someone is willing to pay for it.

Who would have ever let that one go???:HR: LOL

Dont remind me! That is one of the many that unfortunately slipped through my fingers. I recall going to TITS to shoot a few games of trap and amist all the beautiful guns there, that Peli was stealing all the attention. Its at this point that depression starts to set in

What I can't figure out is why put a deer on a shotgun. Seems sort of out of place. Sort of like putting a elephant on a 22 rifle.

That gun was made for the european market, specifically Italy, where hunting deer with shotguns (and in particular o/u shotguns) is the norm and in many cases, the only way to hunt. And most of the deer hunting is done with dogs running deer. So hunters dont have a need for rifled barrels shotguns with scopes....they shoot on the fly. Also keep in mind that the gun was custom manufactured to the clients specification in 1968. So the buyer specified what he wanted engraved on the gun. No different then those guys who have naked women engraved on their custom guns. They are paying to have something unique and to their request

Man oh man this has to be painful for you. We have all screwed up over the years and sold one we never should have but to come back as this one has to keep eating you is pure torture. Life is not fair :(
Only thing I can think of to compare it to is like your old girl friend that you dumped sends you a new pic a year later after losing 75 pounds

take care

That woman reminds me of a patient I had while training in north bay at the hospital. This one was a bit more petite than the one you posted, but same proportions.
2 of the older male techs I worked with came and got me, brought me to a room with a specialized skull unit, and there she was sitting in a chair waiting for me... I had to stand directly behind and above her, let me tell you the view was amazing. I don't even remember taking the pictures lol. Thanks again Vern & John!
