Eotech loosing MOA in different temp?

I have run them lots an lots in extreme hear an cold an have had zero problems which is why I have 3 of them. Sent my most beat up one back as a trial run. If all goes well ill send one more back and keep my new one for sentimental value

Sorry about this, but I'm now considering returning my HWS. If I read everything correctly, we don't need our receipt or remember where we bought our HWS from? Curious how it went for you.

So, lets see.

L3/Eotech, the company that manufactures the optic admits that the sight has some serious issues, and has settled a lawsuit in respect of those issues, as well as offering a full refund plus shipping to any owner who wishes to return their sight.

Serious users of tens of thousands of these optics, including CANSOF, USASOC, FBI, the list goes on, have found that the sight has some serious issues, and in addition to suing the company, are replacing them with other options.

But this is just third party internet hype, because you, as a civilian user of one (? two) Eotechs, has never had a problem at the range?

However, if another CGN member posts that they experienced these issues with their one Eotech, that would confirm it for you?

Wow, just wow.

Regards.

Correct. I'm sure they can track all of that via the serial number

I'll update this thread as my refund progresses. As of right now my sight landed in Michigan this morning

So is this something affecting all holographics possibly? As i am sure the designs are inherently similar. Or just Eotech? I was planning on buying a 512 with magnifier, has the issue already been fixed? Perhaps late serial number units are fine? As the local dealer had units on the shelf and mentioned nothing of this to me.

I wonder who else make a comparable or better product? Vortex?

At this point I Think I'll keep my Eotech, just to upset you.
In fact, I'm going to polish it with a silk cloth tonight, and then snuggle with it, maybe read it some poetry by the fire.

What I won't be doing is sending off a perfectly good optic, that shoots into a 2" diamond 3x a month, off for a refund.
If I personally experience issues i may pursue that, but I don't have plans on running it in extreme temperatures, where the problems reared their head. And I especially won't be sending it back because some 'operator' says i have to.

I'm a recreational shooter and it works awesome in cqb from -10c to 30c and I still haven't heard from anyone personally having issues. I'm not going to flame you for sending it back, for the same reason I shouldn't be flamed for keeping a perfectly good tool.

I agree great piece of kit! I have 3 now 2 and they all work fine still

It hasn't been fixed. Your dealer said nothing because a) he wants to sell them, and b) probably doesn't know anything about the issue. They all use the same technology, and all suffer from the same issues. Aimpoints are a far better sight in terms of battery life, and durability, but they use a different technology.

Having said that, it's your money, so buy whatever you like.

If 32F (0C) is what you consider extreme temperatures, you should probably stay snuggled up in front of the fire. Also, I don't have any Eotechs to send back. We tested them when they came out about 15 or so years ago, and rejected them in favour of Aimpoints.

As I have said previously to other people, I could care less what you do with your money, and if hanging onto an inferior product with known issues made by a company that was quite happy to send your fellow Canadians to war knowing that they were doing so with a product that could get them killed, go right ahead. It just means more Aimpoints will be available for people that actually need them.

Just so we are all clear here. What you're saying is that Eotech, the guys who make your optics and the guys who also admit to lying about their capabilities, and who have paid the US Gov $25.6 million as a settlement(at current US pricing of about $629US per unit retail, that works out to over 40,000 returned/garbaged optics from the US MIL alone. And we all know Uncle Sam doesn't pay retail.), and who are offering no hassle refunds for anyone and everyone. Are doing so because of some strange reason other than the hard FACTS that indicate the the optics are not reliable and have extreme POI shifts(amongst other known issues). AND, AND! You still believe there is nothing wrong with the product.... Despite the manufacturer admitting there is and despite the fact that two large and very well known and respected entities(those being USSOCOM and NSW Crane division) have proven the issues to be true.

I've heard of brand loyalty and kool aid drinkers, but this tops them all. Honestly if I see an Eotech at the range I will openly point and laugh. Only a fool would keep such garbage when a no questions asked refund is being offered. It really doesn't get any easier or better than that and yet some refuse to take advantage of it. I'm sorry but I'm with MWL, feel free to spend your money on junk, the rest of us will gladly enjoy the availability and selection of better quality products..

Another example of why many people have left cgn.

Dont forget the night vision is n/s most of the time on the optics. But im sure most of you dont have nvg's to check but dont take my word for it.

I have ever 2 sets. One i have had for almost 6 yrs now and the NV has worked perfectly every time. One I picked up off here I didn't check yet but don't intend on using it for night shoots and the one I sent back worked but was getting a bit weak after lots and lots of abuse but still worked
