Listed at $2.300.00 can't sell them for $800.00 on EE do people not do research before they list a gun or do they think people don't do research

Yep. I have just one it was my grandfather's skeet gun and it has to be 10 plus years ago since it was properly appraised and it was $7500 US then
Also paid more than a grand for a new ithaca model 37 28ga and it was well worth it

You are right about the 28g model 12 shotguns I have had a few over the years and thy continue to rise in price .and will always hold a premium. D U guns always seem over priced to me ..Dutch

You do not need to explain your post. Guns are worth what people are wiling to pay. A model 12 28 gauge is rare and demands a high dollar. But if the price was based on my interest, or apparently yours, they would be way cheaper.

I think what people do is they go on US sites such as Gun Broker, Guns America or Guns International and see these type of guns listed for ridiculous prices. What they don't realize is some of these guns have been listed for years and never sell. And if they do finally sell we have no idea what the final selling price was unless it was an auction.
 
As stated he is free to list it at whatever price he chooses. At $2300 he will just sit for the next 25 years waiting for the price to catch up is all. I just bought the identical gun prior to this past hunting season in excellent condition for $600 shipped to my door from a fellow here on CGN. It's the second one the same I have owned. First one my buddy paid too much at the dinner for it and wanted to recoupe some of his $$ a few years later after finding out it wasn't worth anywhere near what he paid for it after trying for over a year to move it! He paid $1100 at the dinner. I bought it 5 years later NIB for $750.
 
Anyone hoping to recover the purchase price of a DU dinner gun is going to be sadly disappointed in most cases.

I'm a DU member, attend at least a couple of events each year, and am under no illusions what their guns and the rest of their merchandise are really worth.

Someone who goes to a DU dinner dreaming of a great score on a fancy gun is an idiot who deserves whatever financial beating he gets. You are there to support a conservation organization that does good work preserving the wetlands. If that doesn't appeal to you then stay at home.
 
I won a gun at a Delta dinner.

Winning a gun at a DU dinner in a raffle is the only way to get value for money on the acquisition of a gun at those dinners. However, when I go to them, I'm not looking for a deal. I'm looking to support a good cause. Big difference.
