The asking prices for a Sako Finnwolf seem stratospheric - they basically seem to be collectors pieces at those prices. Does anyone actually hunt with one anymore? Post some pictures if you do!

I've owned mine for nearly twenty years and use it regularly for moose and deer. Had it cerakoted so it wasn't affected to much by rain or snow. Yes it gets used in that weather. It's scoped with a 1x4 Meopta Meostar that takes the same abuse. I would rate the rifle at an honest 85 to 90% and the scope at 95%. I will never sell it but it will always be used for hunting no matter what it's value. I'm also seriously considering having a rebore done by Ron Smith to 338 fed or 358win. It's just another tool and will be treated as such

A true collector may see that extravagant value, but they are definitely not worth it from a practical standpoint. Had a few in hand, played with a few at the range, nothing special. I agree, they seem heavy.

I had one, looked for one for a very very long time, no never hunted with it, I just loved it and cherished it and fondled it in the living room, then one day, I said to my self wtf, why, it's a ton of doe just standing here in the safe, I sold it a machine shop owner out in BC somewhere. And yes, it is many steps up from the Win 88. Doug said it is just a glorified 88, but he was wrong, maybe for the first time in his life!

I have a Remington 700 with a Ron Smith barrel on it. Chambered in .338-06 with a 1:9" gain twist. Very, very accurate. I've put a couple hundred rounds downrange now, and I'd say with the right bullet/powder combo's and proper seating depth, it's between 1/2 and 2/3 MOA, 5-shot groups. I'd highly recommend Ron from my initial experience with this rifle.

If you have any contact info for Ron Smith please PM me, I bought this rifle from Prophet River and would love to have a way to get in contact with Ron when/if I ever decide to get some custom work done to something.

Has done a few reboring and rechambering for me and friends of mine, and certainly one of the best in the business!

I never could understand the attraction. I have an ugly ass Winchester M88 that looks identical if you want some pics. :)

lol! Naw, looks as in look a like on the surface, but that's where it ends! Ya gotta look inside to see the difference! That's where Finland made the difference! And a big diff that is!

I've had quite a few Sako's over the years and they're great guns, but a $2500+ price tag on the Finnwolf escapes me. I can't get past the initial appearance regardless of what the hole............umm bore looks like. :)

your's prolly didn't have hair around it! Right? Mine was only $1750. and was trimmed and groomed up very nicely,;)

Lol..."only" $1750. I guess that is a deal because I usually see them at +$2000. That really seems like collector type money. I actually don't mind the way they look.

The action on the Finnwolf is quite complex compared to the 88 Winchester.

These rifles tend to be quite heavy, and the two I have owned were not spectacularly accurate.

I guess they may be worth a bit more to a collector, but for me....not so much. Dave.

Nice guns, but nothing special, IMHO. I had one many years ago that had been rebored to .358Win, and I used it on a couple of deer and black bear. I fell in love with the chambering, but the gun...meh. I much prefer the BLR as a hunting rifle.

As I recall, I sold it for $800...made a killing, as it cost me half that. :)

I wouldn't have a gun that isn't good enough to hunt with.
