Eotech Refund

I submitted my refund request for my very well-used 2007-manufactured, Rev F. 552 and EOTech got back to me within a day. I listed that I was returning it for refund "due to parallax shift defect".

I plan on sending mine thru UPS instead of CP / USPS to hopefully avoid the postage backlog. I'm ok with eating the extra costs. I bought my 552 secondhand from the EE and obviously didn't have a receipt for it. I listed the purchase price as $594.95, which is what was listed as the going $CAD rate back in 2011, and since I got my approval email, EOTech doesn't seem to have a problem with it.

I used EOTechs in the CF when I was still in, and I didn't notice any issues then, although my exposure to them was very brief. I've used 552s on and off again on my personal guns, mostly because I liked the finer 1 MOA dot and it 'smudged' less in my eyes (I have astigmatism) than Aimpoints did. I have not noticed wandering zero issues, but the sight definitely doesn't retain zero when you mount / unmount it from the gun.

Just my 2 cents. If you have a secondhand EOTech, I'd go for it.

Where did you find the listed price for 2011? I was going to put the current going rate. Also what did you put in for your zip code? Did Your canadian postal code work?
Thanks

I found it on here, actually. If I find it I'll post it.

I filled out the form on their website but got an email saying I had not filled it out completely, and they asked me to fill out a form email instead. I made sure to mark the purchase price as CAD and put my full address. Not sure if anyone else has gotten an email like that.

Leave it to an NCO to sort out the officer... no sir I filled out all applicableinfo properly the first time:HR: however there should only be one box unfilled IIRC it's the "state" box.

Let me know if your still having issues and I'll walk you through it...sir

Edit: if your sight is older they will request additional information

I am going to list the US exchange rate on date of purchase, and provide a USD price for my refund. If you give a CDN amount, you will be losing about 20% of your purchase price, depending when you bought it.

I paid 869 CDN loonies under 15 months ago and I would hope thats what I get back. It will more than likely come in a USD cheque equivalent to today's $869

I completed the RMA request last night, I got the approval at noon today and packaged it up tonight. My 512 was manufactured in Dec 2004 so it had been around for a while. I will follow the progress over the coming days and weeks. Here looking at a new aimpoint

Grasping at straws here but what about magnifiers? Have a 512(fn junk) and a 552 with a G23 magnifier. When I send in the sights, then I'm stuck with a magnifier I won't need. Or is it just considered a L3 magnifier that can be used with any holographic/red dot? Regardless, im pissed. kind of sounds like the Volkswagen diesels....Which I have one too.

Eotech are apparently not refunding magnifiers, because there are no known issues with them. Even people who bought them as part of a kit are only being given an RMA for the sight, and only being credited for the cost of the sight.

The good news is that reports are generally very positive with regard to using the Eotech magnifyer with Aimpoints.

Regards.

for those who shipped their sights and sent it back. What dollar amount did you declare in the customs form? Eotech might refuse delivery if they are asked to pay taxes if full price declared.

It's a warranty return, no taxes will be collected. Usually they ask what type of goods and reason to send commercial gift etc.

I'm torn. I got an EXPS 2-2 a couple of years ago. I have noticed no zero shift. Only use it for 3 gun and the like. I don't shoot in the extreme temps where the problems are reported. Their fine 1 MOA dot is the only optic that I can make out. Aimpoint, Vortex, Burris et al are "red blob" sights and useless for me (even with the brightness dialled down). If I'm not using this I will have to go with a scope which isn't ideal either. What to do, what to do.

Stop looking at the dot. Look at the target and focus on where you want the bullet to go, NOT the dot. As for Eotech's, the company admits they are all faulty by design. I don't think it's matter of "if" it will fail, just a matter of "when". Even if your optic hasn't failed can you really trust an $800 plus dollar optic or justify the price when it doesn't perform as advertised? The return option is an easy win.
