I'm getting myself a .308 win for boxing day and am starting to collect components to build load. Gonna buy new brass and use hornady sst 168g just wondering what powder everyone uses.

I find rel 15 to be the best varget a close second. 4064 or 3031 are easy to find. lots of powders work well but if your chasing max velocity the rel 15 is great.

Ramshot Tac, Benchmark, H-322 and H-335. Tac works well at the high end, the lower loads didn't impress me. Benchmark was soft shooting at all loads,
H-332 was OK and H-335 is snappy and the one that I'm exploring further. All used with both Hornady 110gr V-Max and 155gr A-Max bullets in a BLR.

I have used Varget since it hit the Canadian market and really don't see any reason to change unless I can't find any when needed. I would then change back to IMR 4895 that I haven't used since the early 90's.

I use H4895, and use varget when I can't find the other, they both give me the same speed but accuracy is better with H4895 so I stick with it most of the time.

I've used Varget, 4064, and BLC-2. All have worked fine, 4064 and Varget seemed to me to be almost identical, and 4064 is cheaper and more available so it's what I use most.

Tried vargret... worked great... but trying to find vargret on a regular bais HA!
Sold the few lbs i had bought ( aka jelously hoarding any i could get my hands on by canvassing every powder seller i could... amounting in 4lb over 8 months lol)and decided to stay away.

BLC 2.... excellent powder. Good from 110gr to 220 gr projectiles... good in .308, .223. 303british.... its my go to powder.
