as the title says, which do you like better AND WHY? im interested in one of the 2 in 6-24x50. basically what matters to me is that it tracks perfectly and the quality of the glass, both have a good warranty. or also a vortex hs-lr. besides the illuminated reticle how does this one differ from the pst?

the scope will go on a savage build in 6mmbr.

I have an elite 6500 tactical 2-16x42? I think its a 2 on the low end but its defiantly a 16 on the high end. it tracks very well BUT the glass is pretty lackluster, I have a elite 3200 5-15x40 that has better glass and my burris full field 2 will blow the 6500 out of the water. the 6500 for instance in a gopher patch the green grass and yellow gophers are so close its hard to see a gopher, with the burris the yellow just pops out of the green.
 
I tried both. The sightron was much nicer glass and what I ended up buying. The best thing anyone could say about vortex is their warranty.

I own a few vortex. including a 6-24.

I like it a lot, considering it tracks well, and the reticle matches the turrets properly.

The clarity is not as good at max magnification, but I almost never go beyond 18x or so.


The best part of vortex is the no fault warranty. (I dropped my 2.5-10 and bent the turret - vortex repaired it good as new at no cost)
- gun oil on your hands and drinking while cleaning guns = expensive mistake
 
I have a Bushnell Elite Tac ET6245 6-24x50 mildot and I really like it however the tracking and the glass are way better on the Vortex 4-16 FFP EBR 1.

I haven't shot behind a Sightron.

Owned both, You can guess which one I had to send in for warrenty.

Sightron has better glass and has a lifetime warranty you will never use ;)
 
I know many love them, but I have had nothing but trouble with Vortex (asides from the excellent Sparc II). All of my Sightrons (SIIB and SIII) have been rock solid and a real pleasure to use.

Purchase the vortex new and died in less than a year. Outstanding waranty service.

Got the SIII used on EE and never let me down during 2 years I only sold it because I wanted a 8-32.

Both track accurately, but SIII has better glass
 
I just bought a S-tac 4-12-40 yesterday, That's my 4th Sightron and if its like the other 3 I shouldn't be disappointed.

Even the SI models have above average glass in a entry level scope.
 
ok so I guess the vortex is out. I have heard and read about the sightron having better glass. you guys simply confirmed this, thanks.

I want this scope for a savage build 6mm br im working on. I was thinking about the 6-24 ffp. its 200 morethat the sfp. should I go ffp or sfp? I will be getting the moa reticle and the idea that the redicle is always "right" in the ffp scope seems good. but how is ffp in the real world? how is it on low power and in a gopher patch?
 
I personally don't really see the need for FFP. To me if I'm shooting far enough that I need to compensate for drop chances are I'll be at 24 with my 6-24 and the reticle will be correct.
Any long range rig of mine gets a 200 yard zero and closer than that is an easy correction. 200+ yards gets 24 power and the reticle will be correct if I don't want to dial up on the turret.
In the field I don't shoot at animals past 300 yards and 300 and less is a pretty easy correction if you've practiced and know your trjectory.

To me it's not worth the extra money, especially since I doubt it costs any more to make than a SFP and they're just jacking the price to take advantage of our gullibility thinking we need to buy the newest fad to be able to hit a target.
 
One thing is that the Sightron is a lot less available. Do you guys have local stores that stock them or do you order online. Where can they be found for a good price online in Canada?
