Hey guys.
Finally got out to shoot my new NP29 and all was good nice and straight till whammy! I get shells to my face lol
It was ejecting all over the place and last round stays in the mag well when the slide locks back.
Any ideas? Similar experiences?
 
Rounds ejecting everywhere and back into your face will either be the extractor clocking (sort of rotating a little in the slide), or your ejector being too long or at a funky angle.

If it's ejecting really random, check the extractor and see if it can twist or wiggle at the firing pin stop. If it's a little loose, a new firing pin stop will help. Egw makes a nice over sized one you can fit yourself, or you can use a punch and peen the back edges your existing firing pin stop to tighten it up.

If the extractor looks good, you can file a wee bit of an angle onto the ejector to help direct spent casings out in the proper direction. A little bit goes a long way, so go slow and test often.

Last round not chambering is probably from your slide stop hitting the follower prematurely. Remove the slide, put the slide stop back in, insert a mag with 1 round in it and see if the slide stop moves at all. If so, a few swipes on the slide stop where it makes contact will fix it up.
 
I had it all apart, extractor out and all when I cleaned it after purchase. Maybe I rotated it by accident and didn't notice. The firearm doesn't have issue chambering the last round. What I meant was the spent casing didn't eject on the last round. It was pulled out from the chamber but remained on top of the mag with mag empty and slide locked back.
I will search Web and have it fixed. Thanks guys
 
Not throwing sand in your face but the majority of Norinco's are not all properly fitted or set up properly from factory. If it runs good it is indeed a rarity.
I have probably had 30+ of these guns across my bench in the last 3 yrs. Seen everything from broken extractors after less than 10 rds to ejector not even being installed or sheared off.
Holes for pins in the wrong locations by .010-.025".
Barrels ground down so far that you can see the tension/metal stressing of the rifling from the outside of barrel, crooked crowns, incorrectly fitted bushings etc.
There is very little within original 1911 specs about these guns.
They are IMO $350. guns that need $800.-1000. worth of work to be made run correctly.

As mentioned previosly extractor should not move (rotate/rack) at all when fitted and installed correctly. I would also look closely at Ejector, sounds to me like it is improper profile or maybe even broken. compare it to a non Norinco one and it should be pretty evident if it is damaged.

Gotcha. I thought you were having the last round staying in the mag on slide lock.

Like Heckler said, the ejector could be broken or profiled wrong. A 9mm will use an extended ejector. Being from Norinco it will probably be of secondary quality, so that little extended tip on the ejector will wear, peen slightly, or snap right off.

When the last round is pulled from the chamber, is it still held against the breech face? Or is it dropping? If it's being held, at least you know extractor tension is good.

One sure way to make the whole thing a less of a problem would be to replace the ejector, extractor, and firing pin stop. Total cost would be around $60. Wilson combat, and Ed brown make some decent "drop-in" parts that require very little fitting, if any. Grab the stuff from brownells, spend an hour fitting, and you'll be good to go.
 
Check your extractor tension, make sure the hook is smooth and you'll be good to go - Norcs haven't been that ugly in the last 10 years, but almost every 1911 manufacturer does a crappy job of shaping the extractor hook, leaving it too sharp and most are over tensioned.
 
The casing just lays on top of the mag. It's not pinned by extractor. How do I check extractor tension?
After I said about not putting everything extractor in right or twisting it. I forgot that it's only ever goes in the one way lol

my SAM would pelt me in the face and you could not get that extractor to turn any bit.

My Norc you could wiggle that extractor left right, up, down
 
Haha reminds me of a Desert Eagle 50 I shot. That thing would launch brass and hit you in the forehead dead center. I think it launched the brass more accurately that the bullets leaving the barrel.
 
Suggestion. The extractor can be bent a bit to increase or decrease the tension on the case.

A real easy way to hold the extractor when you want to bend it is to stick into the slide, backwards. Stick it in about an inch. You can then push on the tip to bend it.
 
Okay folks.
Finally got a chance to get out and test the gun after filing the extractor a bit. Out of 50 rounds only one hit my head. So better lol
They were ejecting over my right shoulder and landing not even a foot away. Is that where it's outta be?
