Hi all,
I got asked to dispose of an old rusted .22 and picked up this ruko M50S that had been sitting in a crawl space for quite some time. I've never seen one and was wondering if anybody knew more.
Unfortunately it's missing the mag and is a little worse for wear, but everything works!
Anybody know where I can get a mag?

Glad I saved this Jem. It was going to be chopped and thrown in the trash!

It is a variant of the Armscor/Squires Bingham Model 20 .22 semi auto rifle. When the Italian made PPS50 first appeared, the M20 was altered to a similar appearance, to compete in the same market. It will accept the standard Squires Bingham magazines.

What do you guys figure for cleanup? Steel wool and oil on the metal and strip job on the wood?
Not sure what to finish that chu wood with.

As suggested you have a variation (a cool one) of the model 20. I doubt preserving the collector value will be on your agenda, but cleaning up a fun shooter. I've had more than one red-with-rust show up that came out looking fine with 0000 steelwool n' a smidge of oil. Always start with the least damaging method, and work up to heavier hands. You may find steel wool gets this gem looking good enough for you.

I've had a few SB/Ruko/Armscor pass through here. An extreme case can be found here:

It was a quick n' easy method, but not the sort of thing that adds to value in any way. I started with 0000 steelwool, but it simply wasn't enough.

When you're working on your gem, be certain to treat the trigger as it were a Fabrege egg. The only real Achilles heel of these flavour of semi.

Cool thanks guys.
I want to make it into a presentable shooter. There is zero collector value to this thing as is so I can't really do harm unless I belt sand the crap out of the stock. Metal rust is really not that bad after I oiled it.
Would really like to get a ppsh style mag that it came with.

magazines pop up occasionally. Run an ad, check shows, call any local shop...

Might be interesting to see if a Marlin magazine could be fitted. Recently sent off a Norinco Jw-14(incredibly similar to th'ol 20) with a 25 rd Promag that had been fitted to the action (still very snug).

Add is up, no gun shows here and no local store except crappy tire.

I might look into a different mag.

The firing pins are prone to breakage.
Back in the day, when I had my business, another shop sold these Ruko/Armscor autoloaders. They sold them, but didn't do any gunsmithing. So they were brought to me. I got to do the repairs. I wouldn't sell them; too much aftersale bother.

These rifles are intolerant of crap ammunition. Unlike some more modern .22 semi auto rifles, these don't work with subsonic .22lr. The firing pin is another weak point. The firing pin incorporates the function of the striker and the firing pin in one, & usually fails at the inside corner.

From what I recall, the last time they were retailed in Canada was through Kmart.
