just found on http://furbearerdefenders.com/ the following article. I watched the video on youtube and I didn't really see anything out of the ordinary .

just to be clear, I'm not a anti and came across the following article while looking for info about bear hunting. I'm planning to hunt black bear in the spring btw :)

"A generous donor has come forward to offer $1,000 of their own money to increase our reward in the now infamous “grizzly video” to a total of $3,500.

We issued the reward late last week after witnessing the video of the atrocious killing of a grizzly bear, which may have taken place here in British Columbia. Though little is known about the video, it clearly warrants investigation by appropriate authorities.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the BC SPCA call centre at 1-855-622-7722. The reward – originally $2,500, but now $3,500 thanks to the generous donor, who wishes to remain anonymous - will be given to the tipster by The Fur-Bearers if identification and investigation lead to prosecution under federal or provincial regulations.

It’s possible that the killing of this bear was lawful. That does not mean, however, that no criminal or wildlife act violations occurred. We need a full, formal investigation to take place – and we need Premier Christy Clark to recognize that the public will not stand for these atrocious actions, regardless of the policy of the day.

You can also take action by writing to your local MLA (and Premier Christy Clark).

Please note the video was taken down by Facebook for allegedly infringing upon copyright laws. It can still be viewed here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6fIpVnSR-qE "

Sometimes the killing of an animal isn't pretty, so if that sort of thing upsets you, why would you watch any hunting video, or for that matter participate in a hunting forum? Since you acknowledge the hunt was legal, what is gained by any further investigation? Do you intend to initiate a witch hunt against another dentist who can't shoot? Who do you expect to come forward with additional information? Its not like there were dozens of people on that mountain during the hunt, and opinions expressed by anyone who wasn't there is irrelevant. Furbearer Defenders are not exactly a pro-hunting/pro-trapping group, so it would not seem reasonable to expect them to portray bear hunting in a positive light.

Put things in context though, and consider the period of time that elapsed between the first and last shot, then compared that to the length of time it would have taken the bear to die from natural causes. That bear won the lottery! His death while not pretty, was quick when compared to death in nature, was humane when compared to mortality in the natural world, and he died before becoming debilitated by injury, illness, or starvation.

I don't see a problem besides poor marksmanship. If you can't handle the blood you shouldn't watch. If people only seen what goes on in slaughter houses that supply meat at the supermarkets. Ignorance at it's finest.

Guys the op clearly just copy/pasted what he found else where (I hope) let's not shoot the messenger.

Not so clearly.

rkr could have separated his own comments from the text he copy and pasted, whereas his comments can be mistakenly associated with the article. "I didn't see anything unusual." which I took as meaning look, this is terrible and is what can be expected from bear hunters.

Yup, been in may slaughter houses, beef, chicken, pork. If the soccer moms could see how that meat gets in the styrofoam, they would be horrified.
Out of sight, out of mind I guess

Those people are delusional. They actually posted on their site in giant red letters that they had won and forced the RCMP to abandon their fur hats in favour of toques. Well, they did not. There are toques available now, but so are the fur hats. I specifically ordered one in case this ban did go through.

Assuming it was all legal, 3500 reward to find hunters who did nothing illegal?

$3500 only if it results in charges.

Mind you, turn yourself in and confess to parking on the wrong side of the highway when you left your truck. Pay the ticket for crossing the centreline and head home with around $3300. No, that would be wrong.
