Help Identifying a Muzzle Device (Update in Post 15!)

no idea but it looks like it broke while machining, then they just applied a finish to it.

Where did you find it? I've never seen anything like it.

It doesn't look to have been broken. It's a finished part and the four "tines" are identical to each other so it's looks like it's intentionally designed that way. I got it in a parts lot from another member here on CGN. I have to admit that I'm stumped as well! LOL

Could possible be a custom one off made by and individual not a company. I Google searched it with little results

It looks like Jerry Champagne hit the nail on the head...

I was contacted by another CGNer who was wondering how I obtained it because he had made this particular muzzle device and it was part of a experimental batch that was heat treated too hard and that's why the one of the tines broke off and it should have been destroyed. Upon closer inspection, it does appear that there was a fifth tine in the middle which was broken off. He has warned me not to use this device since other pieces might break off as well and end up flying off and potentially hitting someone. I've assured him that I won't try to use it and also won't try to sell it now that I know of the potential danger. I also offered to send it back to him so he could destroy it and in return he has offered to make me a brand new muzzle device in exchange. And even though I declined, he has insisted on doing so. Now that's a class act right there boys. So here's a shout out to GrensVegter and if you're looking for a trading partner who is honest and has integrity, you couldn't do better.

Now I need help to answer his question to me. What style of muzzle device should I ask him to make for me? What would you recommend that I try? I have a CORE 15 AR (presently sporting an A2) but I'm also thinking of having my MR1 barrel threaded so there's potential there...
