Now that I settle on a calibur, I need to figure out which brand to get.

Rossi: cheaper to buy, okay quality, have loading gate, center ejector
Henry: expensive, have side ejector (a plus for me) but no loading gate.

I kinda want the side ejector; otherwise would have picked Rossi easily. So is the side ejector design worth it, or should I stick with Rossi?

I would go with the Rossi just for the loading gate. I have a many tube fed .22's which don't bother me at all and a Marlin .357 1894. I don't think I would like a center fire with a tube. Its nice to be able to load on the fly.

Work the lever like a man and the centre ejector is a non-issue. The Rossi handiness and value beats the extreme weight and price of the Henry by a mile.

I ordered mine from Wanstalls, came quickly with good service and competitive rates.
I also ordered a leather holster for it from them. That took a little longer, but when it arrived, I was extremely pleased. This little gun on your hip or on a shoulder rig, is very comfortable. Bought mine in .45 LC, and am quite excited to start reloading for it with the big 250-300 gn bullets.

I have had no problems with my Rossi, so far, so my vote would be Rossi. Mines in .45 Colt and I run some fairly hot loads in it, 250grn@ 1350.
Why do you need the side eject? There's rail mounts available for the Rossi if you want to put a red-dot or scout scope on it. The only problem I had with the Rossi was the totally crappy stock sights and that is not all that hard or expensive to fix.
