Hey folks. Anyone have one of these little creatures? Hoping for a real world review. It's handy that they're considered a non firearm... Though it might make a good little grouse getter when hunting, but perhaps there's not enough oomph or accuracy there. Just curious.

Not enough power for hunting grouse. These are considered "parlour pistols", and were used commonly in France at the turn of the century in hotel parlours for target shooting. They are similar in power and accuracy to an air pistol. Even though they do not recommend adding black powder, I have seen some guys add 5 grains of 3F goex black powder for more velocity for longer range target shooting. Note, I have never done this and do not recommend it. Though it was interesting to see other guys do it at the range.

You need to use lead only projectiles, or else you will destroy the shallow rifling in them. So if you buy one, make sure you get some lead round balls, or modify the skirt (my rolling them between a ruler and a table) of a standard pellet to make ammo.

Hope this helps. They are small, but fit the hand comfortably. If you get one, you will have fun with it. even though it is a novelty item.

I have no idea if they are any good but I know pedersoli and Pietta guns are part of their boxing week sale

Yeah I just looked at some of the vids. Looks like it's pushing a rolled pellet at 350fps. Which would be about par with a red Ryder bb gun. (Minus the accuracy of a rifle length barrel). So yeah, not exactly something I'd be comfortable trying to take a grouse with.

Well, I know curiosity killed the cat, but any idea what kind of performance they were getting with the 5 grains of black powder?

My son has ( or had, can't keep up to his acquisitions or sales of anymore ) one of those Guardian ones. They are a substantial little unit, and in all honesty...it's a good thing it's not mine. I'd have given it a pinch of fffg under a lead pellet for sure.

They are great fun and well built. The theoretical accuracy is surprising, it is the short sighting radius and spur trigger which add challenge. To "master" shooting one, it is all in the technique and remembering the pistol shooting basics.
I had not used any black powder in the one I had, but I noticed the brand name of percussion cap had a lot to do with velocity.
