Hey guys~question for you if you own one of these... After admiring the identical sight on my buddy's 11-87, he ended-up buying me one for Christmas. I got a chance to shoot some trap with his gun and in spite of how little I like the look of these sights...I was VERY impressed with the function. Anyhow, I followed the instructions to the letter, and made sure (before starting) that the sight base, the vent rib, and even my finger tips were well-swabbed down with rubbing alcohol. I applied the tape the base, it seemed to grab as it should. I removed the backing off the other side and went to apply it to the vent rib~it wouldn't stick. Thought maybe it was riding-up on the bead base so I checked again, applied some pressure...and it just lifted off. Up until this point, I hadn't touched the tape itself (didn't want to compromise it) but having tried twice, I decided to check~wasn't all that sticky.
I did send-off an email to TRUGLO and expect a company like them to stand behind their products, but until I hear back...I'm wondering if any of you have had this issue, and, how you resolved it? Looking at the surface of the vent rib, there are as many voids as there is surface area...but many are. (to a greater or lesser degree) I'd like to think the adhesive could overcome that, and have enough to grab.
Anyhow, fairly discouraging...but we'll see what they say.
