Hey, I'm looking to get a new pistol and I'm looking for any input or recommendations. I'm looking for a steel/alloy gun in 9mm with a double to single action trigger. Budget is $1500. I just want something different than my "boring" glocks. What are my options? What do you have? Thanks!

I don't care if you buy new or used. Get the CZ SP-01. Don't second guess, don't even give it a second thought. Put a WTB on the EE now!
If you can find an Orange or Canadian, all the better!
I have never shot a better factory steel/alloy gun than this.

Seconded.

I've shot my bog standard shadow sp-01 against more fancy versions and was left feeling glad I didn't pay the fancy gun price.

Any CZ with "Shadow" in the name is the right choice, however, fancy version or not.

You can put a LPA sight on a shadow, or get a CZ-85 combat and either have the action worked on or install a competition hammer to eliminate the camming that ruins the trigger pull.

I cut down the hammer hooks on my 85 and installed a single action trigger. Pretty sweet, though still not quite as good as my Shadow trigger

Did you compare the different versions and shoot them?

I did have my eye on the Cz Sp01 shadow target. Do you guys think its worth the extra?

Any SP-01 is worth it! The trigger is awesome. Makes the gun so easy to shoot compared to your Glock. A Glock is a SHtF gun. A CZ is a " I am an amazing handgun shot" gun!

Don't even bother with Berettas or SIGs. ( Flame suit on!)The Tanfoglios are also worthy of a look but they are basically the same gun as a CZ.

I have owned Berettas and SIGs. The ergos on the CZ is miles better. Like caressing the curves on Anne Hatheway vs. Roseanne Barr.

Do look for the best price, but CZ worth every cent. There are a few more good choices out there - Beretta 92 based models can always make people smile. Also the Walther ppq's and HK spf9 are pretty nice if you want to stick to stricker fired.

I'll second a Tanfoglio choice. Freedom Ventures brings them in and provides great service. Call and ask for Devon. You should be able to find something in your price range. The Stock III would do nicely and the bonus is that they are easy to upgrade. That's what I did with a Limited Pro.

Cz...sure..sti if you're a 1911 fan....or as posted ...tanfoglio...choose your preference...lots f awesome pistols in that price range..personally, I was very disappointed in the hk45 trigger...just felt horrid...

Did not shoot mine yet, but i believe it should easily be my most precise 9mm... JP.

Tanfoglio Stock lll Extreme...

Wow those are pricey! Why is the silver pollycote Shadow $400 less than the black pollycote?

There is a "Canadian Shadow-mate" version (same as Orange) which is more expensive, higher level of tune apparently, flush safeties and front and rear fibre optic sights, and a regular "Canadian Shadow" version. Looks like Bullseye has Silver Shadow-mates and regular silver Canadian versions.
