Help decide what new pistol I get. $1500 budget

You may want to look at the P226 X-Five Short at Bullseye. It's within your budget and you get an actual German master shop tuned 226.

This X-Five has approx the same dimensions as the standard 226. I don't believe it comes with the bull barrel or SRT, but I hear it's as accurate as the full size X-Five family.

My BHP compliments my G17 really well. The "T"-series slide feels like it's on ball bearings….

In D/A to S/A 9mm i've owned Sigs, Berettas, Taurus's, CZ's, Grand Power, probably a few i'm forgetting. Once I bought a Stock 3 Tanfoglio nothing has come close. The best D/A to S/A trigger is the Shadow but overall as a gun the Tanfoglio is the best (my opinion) for range toy/competitive use.
For $1,500 i'd look at a used one that i'm sure will pop up on the EE, with money leftover for ammo and equipment. The Extreme model I don't find any better or worth it for the money compared to a tuned Stock 3, I did the grips, front sight, hammer (didn't notice anything), springs and trigger job.
For less money I think the new Jericho 941 with frame mounted safety is a good pistol as well, any CZ will fit your needs too.

An SP01 Shadow and its variants is my choice within your price range. The regular Shadow (around $950) and upgrade the Recoil and Mainsprings, Pre-B disconnect will only cost you under $ 150. But you have to know what you are doing to safely do this. Then spend the rest in ammo. But if you can find a deal in an SP01 Shadow - Shadowline version, go for it. Price was more reasonable 2 yrs ago, but overpriced lately.

Have you ever shot or owned a 44mag revolver?

But if you want a 9mm CZ is the way to go.

I've shot one and want one. I just don't want to have to reload for another caliber. But I do want one eventually :)

Buying a model 29-5 (endurance package) 1991 tomorrow. ;)
I don't like the new key lock on the newer ones and don't want an older one without the endurance package since I plan to load some stout loads.

I contacted some dealers on here about the CZ. I Will hear from them after the holidays about placing an order. Thanks everyone.

The CZ's are so popular in IPSC that there was a joke going around that they were going to get their own division. You will have a great source for good advice on that gun and how to improve it. Congrats

guess I am a bit late for the cz parade. lol...
ya, among all my pistols, cz is the most accurate one, even compared to sig and hk p30 which are both great guns. I will definitely buy a few different calibers in cz.

S&W Pro Series 1911 comes in 9mm.

+1 on this one. I was at the OP's point about 2 years ago. I got:
- Buckmark 22LR countour 5.5, great to start and go back to fundamentals.
- Beretta 92FS. Sold.
- PPQ. Sold.
- M&P Pro 9mm. Sold.
- Glock 17 Gen 3. Kept, with grip tape, Trijicon sights.
- Strike One. Jury still out on this one, from one month to another, I go from "sell it" to "keep it!".
- 1911 Pro 9mm, my preferred pistol after changing the grips. Got it in the EE with 6 Wilson Combat mags (yes lucky!)
- GP100 .357, surprisingly fun, kept!

So 1911 get my vote. YMMV, it has a lot to do with your hands and how you shoot. PPQ and M&P were great but just not in my hands!
