Take care with that, welded ones have a habit of breaking off and flying back into the users face

Oh my. That would not be good. My plan was to drill into the left side of the bolt, (not too deep obviously) and insert a custom handle. Then have it welded generously.

Then I would smooth out the weld and contour the shape I wanted at the desired angle.

I was hoping to have an "AK" shaped charging handle.

Twist

Threaded and welded is the way to go. as long as the welder is competent.

I remember reading a thread here about drilling the bolt carrier and pinning the new handle on. The company that was doing this mentioned how hard they were to drill and that for each one they successfully made they ruined a couple. They stopped doing this as it wasn't very cost effective. Ordered one at lunch on Thursday and they only had 5 left.

The CSA branded models are no doubt supplied by Gun Expert in the Czech Republic.

I see the Gun Expert model is 1,620 Czech Korunas which is about CAD $90. Add the shipping costs and you're going to be spending much less than $190 + shipping + HST. I have received several shipments from Gun Expert and never paid any Brokerage/Duty/HST - just ask them to ship by post...
