How to use mod 70 safety

I am the first firearms owner of my generation in my family and many of my friends are the same. I have heard of the method Gatehouse is talking about. What are the positives negatives. Does Pushfeed vs Crf factor in on this?

People that use this method are very clever. They are smarter than gun makers, rifle designers, engineers and gun experts.

Yup, pretty SMRT ! :)

Since the firing pin is resting against the primer, you may get an unexpected and unwanted BANG should you happen to drop your rifle.

No safeties, ever. If Im in the lead I'll put a round in, if I'm not I won't and the safety never gets used. (flame suit on).
 
I like my safety's stealthy so I had the bolt shroud scalloped to prevent it from contacting the safety upon release. It keeps the charging grizzlies from zeroing in on me in the confusion. Its been a real life saver.

Just the hook. Line and sinker are still Gates. I first learned of that method a few years ago, it didn't seem right to me but not in a way I could articulate. Everyday that I learn something new is a good day! Most days are good days, even when I need to pull a hook out of my lip;)

The thing is, there are lots of guys that use this method and think they are being very clever. Some of them use it for decades, and most times it's probably not an issue. But sometimes it is.. Gun makers take quite a bit of time and money to give us a safe product, may as well use the tool as designed.

Agree with the BigUglyMan on this.. Have been hunting for many decades with hot chambers either on my own or in a hunting party. Everyone is very responsible, never been any problems. The only person who Doesn't get to chamber a round is my 12/yr old until he gets a bit more experience and confidence carrying firearms around people. I also use rifles with two position safetys for ease and speed.
