I recently missed the purchase of a .762 x.39 upper for my Ar15 it was a knee jerk attempted purchase , the lure of all that Cheap Ammo was really drawing me in .

I have since been reading and trying to figure out if I should press the purchase button at irunguns , what I have been reading is so mixed overall many guys are saying they are having major feed issue issues with them being under gassed gas port sizes are too small etc etc
How about it ? can any of you share your experience , I don't want a rifle that pisses me to the point that I just never shoot it the idea of purchasing the upper + mags is so I can afford to shoot more .
I also hate selling crap to others if anyone has experience with the 2 complete 7.62x39 uppers for sale at Irunguns please advise me lol should I pull the trigger ?

I am also very tempted to build a dedicated 9mm but feel I should just pick up another non restricted cx4 my last cx4 in .357 sig was such a useful firearm on the farm .
Thanks so much for your advise friends

I haven't checked on the Irungun offerings, but....
I'm totally happy with my Windham AR w/16" barrel in x39 with 2500rds no issues. I'd would buy it again.

My 7" PSA from IRG has run flawlessly. Highly recommend it. A friend of mine has an NEA 7", and he's been one of the lucky NEA owners who has also had a good experience.

Did you decide on an upper? I went 10.5" because I'm not a fan of a keymod rail thats shorter than the actual barrel - If I was going to run a rail, ideally I'd run 9" on 7" barrel with a comp on the end. Just my opinion on what I find looks best. Plus the 10.5" with standard front sight and foreend allows me to run the rifle in stock format before deciding if rail and lower gas block are required. Now I just need to find a stripped lower to complete the build.

I'm in the opposite boat, have the stripped lower and trying to decide on what to get. Have been waiting to see more NEA'S in 7.62x39 before I decide, I have read here they have improved over earlier generations but I have to make certain what I do get lasts as it'll likely be my one and only AR build due to financial constraints. I do want at least a 14" barrel though.

I assembled my own and it ran pretty awesome. I would recommend it.
NEA made it easy by selling a barrel and bolt combo: only one left ATM:

https://www.canadaammo.com/product/detail/nea15-7-62x39-14-5-upper-receiver-with-enhanced-nickle-bolt-assembly-combo/

From there you can add whatever parts you want to complete the upper.
One piece of advice I always give (after running a couple of 7.62 AR's) is to get an extra power hammer spring for your lower. Wolff makes one and you can order it from Brownells. This will ignite everything including that Romanian stuff with the super hard primers.
My last build had a AAC nickel boron Bolt Carrier, which along with the NEA boron bolt, made a heck of a nice BCG. Only reason I didn't keep it is that my preferred range doesn't allow 30 cal.

I built one, gained a ton of eexperience as I own a few.

Biggest problem is feed issues, basically the m4 (223) feed ramps are
To small for the 30. Cal round to slide up. So you cam dremmel those out a bit if its an issue.

Next problem is your bolt, get yourself a lmt carpenter steel bolt and problem solved

You want asc mags, or xcr pistol mags work the best.

And since your running corrisive ammo I would run a piston system
Atleast thats what I did. But it doesnt matter just a little more cleaning.
Just really more of a health corcern.

And like drifter dave says get your self a wolff spring

Hi Guys
I tell you this was a tough decision I really wanted the x39 and I am sure I will get one very soon I just had the bug in my behind I saw that Colt LE 10.5" 9mm complete with CH , BCG and mag block , I really enjoyed shooting my CX4 in the past I have .556 , I inherited a couple bushmaster lowers 1 stripped and 1 complete and have been eager to do something with them so I am going to build out a .556 and this 9mm , the .556 is for my 22 year old son and the 9mm is for me , I might well sell a safe queen Sporter that was also a inherited Rifle .
Tonight it was a tough call I was going to purchase the PSA 7 NITRIDE it certainly would have been much cheaper they had no mags on the site I noticed guys advertising for them on here I might have gone that way if they had everything on the site , I did notice that I got the last Colt 9mm SMG package it went out of stock and up $500 lets hope it was a wise choice just looks like so much fun and just a little different , hopefully its not beat up to bad .
Thanks very much for your help

That 9mm kit is in great shape

I do not know about that one, how would it be compared to NEA's (NiB?) bolt. Would it also be a good match with
the AAC NiB carrier?

Yes, get the LMT Superbolt, it is of higher grade material which is needed in this application. It is available through Questar.
There is a discussion here on CGN regarding the best x39 bolts, as well as on AR15.com.
If I can find the links I'll post them later.

If you do get the bolt, try to order a spare extractor (not sure if spring is unique) as it is unique to the LMT piece.

FYI...the Robinson XCR x39 bolts are beefy. One CGN'r here has 13k rounds through his. He has a post somewhere here.

I got the LMT bolt from Questar. I also ordered it with a spare extractor. Questar told me that they had talked to LMT, and LMT had never heard of one of their extractors breaking. I ordered a spare anyway, since it is proprietary and does use 2 extractor springs. My upper was custom built by Citizen Arms in the US, and came with a DPMS bolt because that's all that was available at the time. Unfortunately that bolt would break extractors every 3-500 rounds. I replaced it with an MGI enhanced bolt and that ran well, but the extractor looked pretty much identical to the DPMS extractors, of which I now have a significant stock of spares. I didn't have the MGI bolt that long before the LMT bolts became available again, and I jumped on that bandwagon as soon as I found out about it. The LMT bolt has been stone reliable since I've had it and I haven't looked back since getting it.

I wouldn't worry about getting a piston or DI gun. Mine is DI and the biggest thing I try to do is run 10 rounds of non corrosive ammo though it at the end of the range trip, and it's golden. I throw it in the safe and forget about it for a while. If I do get corrosion, it's usually just a little bit inside the bolt carrier around the tail of the bolt. It comes out easily with a brush. I'm running an old school hard chromed Colt Bolt Carrier which I don't think is chromed on the inside. If you splurged on a nickel boron carrier I don't think you'd have any issues at all.
