My Swiss Collection

Nice stuff. I'm surprised that no-one has posted pics of Swedish firearms - usually takes only about 10 posts for that to happen. ;)

here is my Swiss collection,it as changed some since this photo.I have added a 1889 which is not in this photo. It was a shed find that was sitting there for years but it cleaned up nice

I don't have much of a collection, just got this Swiss K31 a couple months ago. It doesn't look great, but it shoots incredibly well. My best group at 100 yards so far is .75 MOA using off the shelf GP11 ammunition. The front sight was bent so I bought a new one and will install it shortly.

I had one of both that shared the same ammo, a Swiss m1882 and Swedish Nagant m1887 antique status revolvers, just sold them -

Nice Swiss guns fellas! I hope to be adding another to my burgeoning collection soon as well.

Also wish I could own a PE57, but the gun laws are what they are. I got to shoot one this summer, great rifles. That rifle really tames 7.5x55.

Nice collections and pictures, gents. I love my two K31s and my K11. One of them always comes to the range with me.

Not enough K31 talk on this site. Need much more .... seriously.

I wish someone would demonstrate how much more accurate a K31 is than other milsurps. If I manage to expand my collection beyond Russians,
maybe I will do a shoot-out of the rifles I collect. Perhaps comparing a LE to a K98 and a K31 (should the Mosin be allowed in?)

You're not missing much. The Stgw 57 is one heavy bastard.

Answer to #33.

1. No other military arm of the era is as well-made than the K31, or of better materials.

2. No other military surplus ammunition comes near GP11 - also used, as it comes - by Swiss competitors in 300m match rifles.

Add to that a trigger that would be considered excellent on a production civilian rifle or carbine, the ability to fit or remove a scope or a diopter sight in seconds - without changing the zero - and you have a versatile rifle or carbine for hunting anything in North america with the right bullet, and any kind of precision military shooting competition, as some amazed fellow shooters were able to see at Camp Perry over the last few years.

Plus, you guys get them for almost nothing.

PS - did I mention that they'll happily shoot ANY .308 bullet from 155gr up to 190gr?

Thanks for the insights about why the K31 is superior. I have become quite curious about these rifles and I guess I am just going to have to
get one for myself.

I bought my K31 two months ago from the Calgary Shooting Centre. They grade their rifles by inner bore diameter and the one I got was barely used after 73 years (the outside was kinda beat up though as it was used annually in Swiss reserve training excercises). At that time Wholesale Sports had a sale on 30 year old GP11 ammo (450 rounds for $299), and based on what I have seen getting GP11 can sometimes be a problem. This rifle is amazing to shoot. At 100 yards my MAXIMUM 5 shot group size is about 3 inches, with my best being 3/4 inch using the v notch open sights that came with it. Whenever I go to the range this rifle can hold it's own with many if not most modern tactical rifles using scopes and bipods.

Great stuff! I like to shoot milsurps as they came, "as issued" and it is fun to show those with tacticooled rifles, what one these old rifles can do.

The issue K31 sights are far superior in clarity to the contemporary Mauser items, and are calibrated for 100m, too. A range of foresight elements are also available from time to time, in case you have a low or high shooter for some reason.

For those sensitive souls, there is a very effective clamp-on muzzle brake from Swiss Products, sold by Grafs and Brownells and the usual Canadian dealer.

One point is that the PPU ammunition is generally around 200fps slower than GP11.
