Alliant Powder Reloder 16 is a propellant that performs consistently across temperature extremes. Its burn rate is slightly faster than Reloder 17’s — well within the 4350 burn speed band. This makes it ideal for traditional hunting cartridges as the .30-06 and .270 Win. It will work as well with 6.5mm target loads and tactical applications where temperature stability is required. The Alliant Powder Reloder 16 contains a de-coppering additive but no toxic DNT or DBP.

Hopefully it has better temperature stability than H4350...

I saw Bigfoot carrying a case of Alliant powder onto the Ark :)

I was talking to the rep at a major powder supplier (Hummason) back a month or so ago. He told me they "hope" to have some Alliant by the latter half of 2016.

But, that was before Obama started his executive actions. And if it starts looking like Hillary will be "crowned" next (the election is creeping up) that could well push availability of this, and loaded ammo (think 22lr shortage again to go along with the 22WM that you can't get now at any price) a few more years into the future.

I have seen two of the three .......I have enough Alliant powder for myself for the next decade and my ex-sister in-law was a hairy knuckle dragger...........Harold

There is/was some Alliant powder in a BC store earlier today with more coming .Not a sponsor here as far as I know? Phoned a buddy and he got some Blue Dot and Win 296 All the Re #25 spoken for and reordered. With Obama speaking stupid ........there will be more panic hoarding Stateside PDQ............Harold

That should be a good fit in the 35 Whelen with 250's. Interesting too for the 308 with 190 gr and heavier bullets.

I have RL-26 and RL-33 sitting at home in my cabinet. Could have bought RL-23 as well. Have the RL-33 for sale on the EE right now, but no one local seems to want it...

I have had good luck in all temperatures with Rl 17(-20 to +30). It has been my go to powder for the 260 AI, consistent, low SD and great speed.

RL-17 gave the roughly the same temperature stability in my 308 as I'm getting with H4350 in my 6x47L. It was similar to that of old IMR powders. I was running it at low pressure though, so it probably performs better once you get the pressure up.

I managedto get 2 pounds of R22 and R25 from some friends recently.

I dont believe ANYONE HAS IT FOR SALE IN A LGS. Pipe dreams right now and for the last 2-3 years.

I have given up on Alliant powders and probably won't return to them when, if? they become available again. I prefer to rely on manufacturers whose supply is more consistent so I've developed loads for other powders in the ones that used to use Alliant. This is not a rant on the company, just a practical response to a virtually non existent supply.

I tried one pound of rl15. Not enough of a performance difference for me to search for more like King Arthur in Monty pythons quest for the holy grail.

I'm like Hunter5425, stick to powders that are more readily available, imr 4064, blc2, etc.

Has anyone seen a burn rate chart that shows some of these new powders ( RL 16, RL23 & RL 26) ?? RL 16 appears to be faster than RL17 and slower than RL15. Is RL 23 a totally new powder or just an improved version of RL 22?? Same with RL 26 is it an improved RL 25 or a new powder altogether?
