Hi all, so I have looked for a new or used 18.75" barrel for my Mossberg for a couple of yrs. no luck but lots of 26-28" field barrels around. My question is, will I end up with a "cylinder bore barrel " if I crop a field barrel to 18.75"? Can I still thread for chokes if desired? Thanks

There was two barrels on the EE a while ago cut down for real cheap..Dutch I found it .page 8 on the shotgun parts .three screws loose has two barrels for like 50$ each...should work for you and save you some money.

the answer is yes. All the choke is in the last couple inches of the original barrel. threading for chokes is expensive, probably more $ than a replacement Mossberg barrel.

Nomad 68, the barrel I referred to was a used on hanging on the used gun rack.
I am now slightly confused if it was a 12 or a 20 gauge.
But, I am pretty sure it was a 20, but having been looking at over a half dozen rifles and shotguns that afternoon I may have sent you on a wild goose chase.
A wtb posting in the EE may yield something quicker .

Thanks Rob, haven't heard back from Reliable yet. I have ran the add on the EE a few times but will put on another. Lol, I am sure I have inquired with almost every store in Canada over the last 2 yrs with no success. Boat loads of 12g barrels on the market but no 20 for some reason.

Did you try to get someone that handles mossberg in Canada to order one in for you.
They were not expensive state side when on the mossy site ( under 100 US) and apparently still available with a call
Part number 90035 I think 20ga 18.5" fixed cylinder choke and smooth bore
Cheers

yep Joe, I approached Gretch in Ontario who , I am told, is the Mossberg distributor in CDA. Actually, Mossberg themselves pointed me to Gretch. Not really a big deal but would like to have one.

What about Wortner Gun Works in Ontario. They did warranty work for mossy. Not sure if they still do but worth a call and check that part number. I think it is right for the 20ga barrel
Cheers
