If you are a stand hunter for deer, how early are you in that stand?

how dangerous is to walk in a forest at dark? Any chance to be attacked by a bobcat or other critters? I'd say bobcat would be the worst if you get that on your head... :)
I use a red head lamp. I always remember the two friends that went in the dark and one shot his buddy while it was still dark thinking he was a deer. If I recall it happen near Wellesley Ontario. The friend died. Another hunter I know lost a arrow on his way to the stand and found it walking back out in the dark when it stuck into his knee. Only problem I encountered in the dark was a skunk.

Sure is..... But sucks trying to pull over a scoped rifle.... Works great on my waterfowl rigs..... But the scoped stuff sucks...

no it doesn't.. 1)don't get the knitted type.. 2)get one wide enough for a scope. I've seen them around, but I ended up making my own.. took 4 mins and a sewing machine.. no fuzz on the scope, and easy to slip on/off..

I arrive @ my stand about 15 - 20 min. before legal shoot time. After deer hunting since 1961 . I have seen no reason to
arrive any sooner . This has resulted in being successful 43 times since then . If you can stand the wait or cold then
arriving sooner will not hurt anything , but I do not think it will help that much . ,,,,,,,,,, My 2 cents worth ,,,,, Frank
