If a guy wanted to improve the factory sights on such a sweet rig what would you reccomend. Remember its a top ejecting lever gun. I was looking at Williams ( presume it would have to be a side mount.) ,, skinner ( would it have to be a barrel mount? ) Lyman tang .? Or a NECG ( Not sure where it would be mounted.)

I understand I may have to change the front post with any of the above options but I am just looking for advice and reccomendations from anyone that has done the same modifications..

Please,,,,, no scope reccomendations. .. Jesus will cry if you put a scope on such a fine rifle.

Thankz Nutz.

When I had mine I almost had it drilled and tapped for a Lyman tang sight. That would be the ultimate IMHO. I have a Marbles bullseye sight on a Rossi 92, and it is very quick but not as accurate as a rear mounted peep. I have a Lyman receiver sight on another rosin '92 that would be second choice vs the tang sight. try to find one of the old steel ones, the new aluminum models aren't worth buying IMHO.

Vintage redfield 70E. Forget tang site. They were great in the 1890's. Receiver sights were invented to improve on the hand placement issues of tang sites.

Another functional option is the Williams FP or the Lyman 66A, but those are regrettably aluminum.

All the tang sights I have seen on lever actions are a pain in the ass to use... they are right where your hand is supposed to be...

If you have to "improve" your sights a side mounted receiver sight would be best... and remove the rear sight.

It's a great little gun as it is... I wish I hadn't sold mine.

Some have complained the rifling twist wouldn't shoot any bullet heavier than 240gr............Not sure if this is true? Harold

The fine rifling isn't good for lead at higher velocities. They lead up quickly. Jacketed bullets are okay.

Its getting a williams side mounted reciever sight. Will report back after its installed and sighted in. Thanks for the help gang.
