270/08

I don't know about the 270 being better. My old 96/38 is so easy to load for, and being so light in the recoil department I bought a zastava 6.5x55 from a member here. I think it might be my new dedicated deer rifle.

Just waiting for scope rings before I try it out.

I still have no complaints about 270 though.

yeh don't be afraid to post several photos of the 27-08 mate, id be interested too see cartridges targets the gun kills whatever!

cheers

Better may be an innapropriate word.....lets go with more user friendly. When shelves are out, there are still 277 bullets the companies put priority on manufacturing them. The cases are always available, and if ever not can be made out of 30-06

have you got pictures of the small group of the weekend at 1000 yards you shot??? you might be able to boost the sale of the idea if people can see what it is truly capable of..............

Doug (C-FBMI), would refuse to believe it anyway and say it wasn't anything in .277. Lol

1000yd group? not me it was only 500 but this groups is a 17 shot from that match ,18th at 7 o'clock is when I quit. anyway a 17 shot group under 2" is not that bad. and was something like 26 consecutive v-bulls
Being seen as an anomaly make it allot of fun

so guys laugh so hard when they find out you flinging 270 cal bullets and drop points??

all kidding aside, nice accomplishment and good shooting

Nice work! And thank you for not being a sheep, and proving its the man behind the trigger, not some magical VooDooShortMag6.5whizzpopper.

Oh craps,, I forgot it was me 1000m 5 shot group 4.5+ -" electronic targets
so no picture.

Anyway, its just lucky & I would consider it to be more equipment that skill

yeah that's the one............someone who was in on the wifi must have saved the group though..........at least I know 5 of the witnesses so I can say for sure it happened lol

yeah agree with Ivor on that, barrin the north American stuff... but anyone a fool to dismiss the .270 Winchester, not many who have used and used properly have complained. and a short version would be a nice compliment!

We can forgive the prejudices of C-FBMI. He's a crotchety old guy who has been around a long time, and so is entitled to his personal prejudices. At least up until witch testing, and he starts burning people on assumptions of being witches...

Bill Leeper built me a dandy little 270 / 08 on a 700 Ti.
It started life as a 260 and had a lemon barrel out of the box.
For me it was the ideal way to go because at the time I had come into several thousand .277 bullets and had no available 270 to burn them up in.
It will do anything a 260 or 7-08 can/will do and is a tackdriver, is as easy to reload as either and makes tiny groups with any bullet weight tried so far...... thats good enough for me...

What did you use for dies?
