The Savage Axis fanboys haven't showed up yet.
For me personally I have the kimber montana. The sako is nice the action is beautiful but for the price their asking I can't justify it when my montana does the same job and almost half the price. But hey that's my opinion.
While the SAKO is a Nice rifle there are many rifles that are even lighter and will shoot just as well for half the price !
These rifles allow to Buget for a GREAT Qualify scope on it and still come out less EXPENSIVE ! JMO RJ

A motorbike will also get you to the grocery store but an Escalade would be far nicer if not smarter choice. A Lexus 570 be another level above that. How a rifle ‘shoots’ is a fraction of the equation. Savage axis ‘shoot’. Do you want to drive a Chevy or a Rolls?
Do these half price options have flush 5 round detach mags? What’s the bolt throw? World record lock time? How’s the trigger? How’s the stock quality feel and sound? What are the materials? Integral picatinny? How’s the fit and finish? Tractor or sewing machine to run?

The carbonlite stock is well made, Sako rifles are well made just they are useless at bringing these two together. We hear many complaints about these rifles however almost only because of the bedding and soft touch paint issues. On Friday another was dropped one off to us to be epoxy bedded. L-Plate will go straight into the bin.

And in all those years the market landscape changes. I thought I recall hearing about something happening to Kimber availability, then in the last few years you have the option of an MDT HNT26 chassis with your choice of barreled action, and there's been time for Sako to tweak their product too.
What happens to this ‘bedding issue’? My .6” groups out of the box with factory ammo I got out of the gate with my peak 308 will change somehow? Still seems great 170 rounds in. When to expect this change in bedding and accuracy?
The stock finish sounds different now but look forward to if it does the rough tech thing and get to refinish with a refresh strip and paint but jury is out if that will be required on peaks. I do love the stock, will be worth any of what you say might be needed.

Once the action gets removed from the stock it is difficult to get it back in the same spot and some seem to have accuracy issues. We shoot in very wet conditions in Ireland/UK and rifles need to be dried properly. Epoxy bedding makes sure the action goes back where she belongs.
