First of I just want to say for the record this was the first time I ventured out side the box I the shotgun world and I have never swayed from remington tacticsl or beretta shotguns so the standards were set with hesitation when I first said I will take this gun.

I picked this up off the EE and the gun was lightly used so I thought what the hell let's try one.

My first impressions when I assembled this gun was it was very lite for a tactical gun however clean with smooth edges.

The fit and feel of this gut was quite nice the stock is fully adjustable both for length and cheek hight which was nice.

I did not like the plastic front rail. It should be steel. But in fairness the forend is polymer

I found the ghost ring interesting as its both ghost and a site type set up but adjustable which is perfect for the application.

I found the charging handle generous and easy to charge

The top mount I g rail is steel and would work well with a red dot site of some sorts but not my thing on a shotgun.

I really like the pistol grip on the shotgun they balanced a semi hard soft grip and I like the angle it's on

I mounted a tactical light and for the most part the light and site line up making it s point and shoot on targets if you go any night gaming at a course

Now for the main part does it run does it cycle.

I took it out yesterday took a box of 3 inch steel / 5 buck / 5 bird shot 1 1/8 / 5 1 oz / 5 low recoil SB slugs.

I was impressed about the cycling. I had 1 failed to cycle which was expected with the reduced recoil slugs as they won't cycle on my rem or beretta auto.

What I did not like felt recoil. I find this gun hits you hard but a small price to pay if it works. I started feeling this recoil about 25 rounds into the cycling test

Accuracy was as good as any I never bothers trying patterns or shooting groups with the slugs

I am more interested to see what the long term use will be. And as the rounds add up I will report back.

Thanks for the write up. Do you know if replacement parts readily available? Thats the one reason I havent bought one yet.

This.

main reason all my scatter guns are still in the 870 family, the beretta products, or vintage Ithaca. Tons of parts available for these choices.

The local shops and gunsmiths are still calling the Turkish products "disposable guns" and "unfixable" if something important breaks. That scares me.

Ya, normally shoot berettas I have for the last 20 years and never made a return trip to the gun store.
From my old 391 spotter to the Urika to extreema to the A5 rock solid guns.

But this Hatsan interests me. I like inertia
I really don't know what there is to brake inside with inertia ?

I was more worried about function. Will see at the 2000 round mark

They may be the greatest thing ever and make reliable semi-auto available to the masses inexpensively. I hope that is true. I'm waiting on the sidelines until either my Xtrema2 fails, or the evidence builds to show these are better.

I've had 4 Hatsan pumps, over the past 4 years and still own 3. Not a single issue with regular use. Bell Lifestyle offers good support and each gun has a 5 year waranty through them. I really enjoy the Hatsan lineup.

My understanding is the hasten pumps are basically aluminum-framed 870 clones, which is not really an issue since 870 bolts lock directly to barrels. So I would expect them to work OK if decently made.

What are their semi-autos based upon?

Well, none of the parts can be directly replaced with 870 parts and
I've found the design and parts to most closely resemble Italian made shotguns, Fabarm in particular. (bolt, barrel insert design, pinned forend, sights, trigger assembly)

For parts contact belloutdoors and repair contact Carman Willows Gun Repair

I have put 50 slugs through my mpa semi auto (20 yesterday)

Shoulder is a bit sore but shogun had no issues.

Isn't tha fab arm also based upon the 870?

I've never heard that personally and handling and inspecting both would not lead me to believe so.
Inspired by the greatest pump shotgun design? (870) Yeah I could see that.
But based on it, I don't see many glaring simularities, as in cross compatible parts, for example.

I owned a hastsan escort MPA. great gun added the extended mag and a RDS. I loved the mag cut off for quick slug change overs and ghost loading. But was never overly pleased with the patterning due to the cylinder bore. The only ammunition that patterned well was hornady varmint express with the versawad. Too expensive to mess around with.

Perhaps another reason they are referred to as disposable is due to the low cost to buy new versus paying gunsmithing rates to repair.

I got one, enjoying it so much. Almost only shot slugs thru it..

I dont know round count.. 500-600 + 200 birdshot..

Now the wave washer at the end of the mag tube are broken. Gotta look for it soon, its been a safe queen for a few months building other guns.

Ill get back to this thread.

Hatsan MPA are good shotguns just dont know what is happening/ happened with mine.

Contact Bell Outdoors. They'll most likely and you one free. I had excellent service from them.
