new yote gun optic?

Shop the used market to get better glass... for $500 you can get an excellent Leupold VX-3 3.5-10X40... 3.5X is low enough and 10X is high enough.

VX3L Leupold in the 4.5-14x50 configuration. Sitting on my Swift, there is no optics I have found that is better between 50 feet and 550+ yards.
Gives decent low-light performance without sticking up off the rifle too far to get the good cheek weld.
If one did not want quite as much magnification, then the same scope, but in the 3.5-10 x 50 would be nearly as good.
Regards, Dave.

I have a number of Leupold scopes, but the one on top of the 25-06 is a VX-2 in 2-7 with LR duplex reticle.
Light & compact. Low enough power at 2x for any close range stuff... and enough at 7x for 300+ .
I could likely spend a lot more, but really can't use more than the VX-2 optics.
I agree with the spank ... the 6-18xAO is just a little much for the average 'yote rifle.

I have a Bushnell Elite 4.5-30 on my 25/06. Good for coyotes, varmints, and a decent longer range target scope. So far I like the light transmission, magnification, and tracking. I like the target turrets more than I thought I would. Depending on where I set up, I will adjust my elevation ahead of time.

Just to add.... I still fully endorse the vortex diamondback (don't cheap out with crossfire II, they are junk)..... But I just put a Zeiss Terra on my .243 and I am really impressed.......

2-7 is plenty for our neck of the woods, but 4-12 won't hurt you either..... Small scope = lighter carry, and I don't know about you, but I walk between sets so it sure helps......
