Minimum barrel length with a folding stock?

Although I realize not all folding stocks will be the exact same length, what would be the (best guesstimate) minimum barrel length to still have the rifle legal?

I know you need like a 11" barrel if you want to have a collapse stock ( if your running like SR-22 kits and AA556 ) I think if you run a BC folding stock, min barrel is 18-20"

Wouldnt be able to do a side folding with that length. But should be able to get a collapsible one. I had a SR22 and I found it a pain to strip to clean. I'm sure someone will come in and say Axiom stock. I got no exp with the Troy. AR556 would be the same as the SR22 just plastic and plastic screws.

I guess Zahals has a cool stock. But depends on what you want to do.

OK, that clears it up a bit. My 10/22 is a bit over 5-1/4" from the bolt face when closed to the back of the receiver. Add that to your barrel length, then add in however much your stock extends behind the receiver when folded. Mine is a mini SOCOM replica using the OEM 10/22 stock and is a bit over 4" longer than the minimum with a 12" barrel. With your 12.5" barrel I would think that all the folders will be too short. An AR style telescoping buttstock may work out, though.

It's been years since I measured, but it was something like 17 or 17.5" was what I needed with my BC folder. So yea, 18 or 18.5" is the closest common one.

Thanks for all the replys. I think I will go with this fixed stock version as it should be long enough.
