What's wrong with Wetaskiwin?

Apologies if I am posting this in the wrong area, but this is the closest I could find.

I was looking at vacant land postings on MLS, and $/acre for forest seems a lot lower in that area than in other parts of central Alberta.

That seems strange given its proximity to the QE2 and Edmonton.

What gives?

Is the climate especially rotten?

Are there wall-to-wall feed lots?

Where from Wetaskiwin is the land your looking at. Not sure why the richest first nations groups would be a big problem. I grew up right beside one and never had any contact with them in 51 years. That was south of Strathmore .

Off topic but is that huge collection of old steam tractors and antique farm equipment still just outside Westakiwin. Source of inspiration for many of W. P. Kinsella's novels.

That is (or maybe used to be) part of the Reynolds Museum. It was their stash of projects in waiting and spare parts. The Museum itself is amazing and well worth the trip.
