I'm thinking about ordering one with the Hogue stock . Question , how long is the Hogue fore stock as I want a .920 barrel that is as long as the stock , but no longer . Which length barrel would that be ? Length of pull . Is the Hogue generous in the matter and could 2 inches be cut off the butt and it would still be comfortable , easy and quick to shoot ? Is the mag release worth it ? Looking for an easy to carry trapline gun . Group size at 50 yards with selected ammo , what can I expect ? Any comments appreciated on those DAR?.22's and if anyone wants to post pics and explain the features of theirs , that would be appreciated also . I want a solid accurate little bush gun not a ###y race gun and I don't know if Dlask will do it but I don't want a threaded muzzle with a thread protector either .

For safety's sake I really hope you rethink that to 1" minimum beyond the end of the stock. It is way too easy for someone to cover the muzzle with a finger or their hand and have a horrible accident if it is any shorter and even that is really close. Just my opinion.

Here is a Hogue stock with a threaded Dlask 12.5" barrel and a thread protector:

So about 11.5" would project just far enough to allow the thread protector to be removed and provide a little safety projection as Elimsprint very wisely suggested. Dlask makes barrels with sporter, target and X-treme chambers, the 50 yd groups will be very dependant on the chamber you choose.

+1 I had a 8" dlask barrel and an axiom stock. The stock would need cut down to match barrel length and stock pinned to meet NR length.
Imo bad idea being flush!!!!
Also fyi these guns are front heavy or atleast the three Ive shot were.

I have a 12.5" DAR-22 in a Boyds Evo stock, and it's wonderful. I'm getting .5 to .75 will bulk AE at 50 yards. Better ammo gets better results. I agree with elimsprint to have the barrel stick out a bit from the stock. Tom E Gun's gun looks like a happy distance from the end of the stock. You could always get the 8" and cut the stock down if being ultra compact is what's you're after.

Thanks,
Cal.

Weird........... A dlask thread with little airwolf weight comments. Will it ever end?

As long as it remains over 26" OAL you can.

I put a hand stop on mine ( its not quite flush, just enough that if I want to install a muzzle device, I can ) Many people run AR15's with flush muzzles, whats the difference in a 22?

A dlask 8.5" with a factory syn stock was only a 1/4" above 26" OAL. Setup I use and quite light IMHO. Lighter if I turn down the barrel.

No really a .920 Heavy Barrel would be front heavy? Also I still got my fingers.

In my opinion, the difference is two fold: One, a hand stop. Most short 22's I have personally seen don't have one, but you've got that covered. :) And two, most people start their new-to-shooting friends, or younger people out on their 22lr. They may not have the knowledge or discipline to keep their fingers away from the muzzle.

Thanks,
Cal.

Don't start them on a SBR then, Or teach them better. You don't teach them to sweep the muzzle on a pistol, Whats the difference between a rifle? I see more people turn people away from shooting due their first choice of firearms. Like Short barrel AR's its not the recoil that turns people away. Its the noise.

Same as teaching someone that you cannot shoot a revolver like a semi auto and keep your thumb away from cylinder when firing.

Fair enough. I was simply stating my opinion based on my personal experience in response to the OP's posting. My opinion is worth exactly what you paid for it. Take it or leave it...no skin off my back...or fingers as the case may or may not be. ;)

FWIW.... ANY dlask barrel is more accurate than most of us are. I've ha handful of heavy profile and .920 and never had any accuracy issues. I'm sure with ammo it likes (both my current barrels LOVE CCI SV), and a capable shooter, 50 yards groups would be in the 1/2 inch size.

Not a dlask but the barrel and Comp are this is the 10" barrel and hogue stock

1/2" from comp to end of stock

Just over an 1" with the comp removed to the end of the stock

Length of pull
