Hey,

Id like to make a decent lightweight 10/22, but with price in mind. ill spend the money and put a tacsol barrel on it but am not sure what to do with the stock. My main goal is to find the cheapest way to get a pistol grip.

I could just buy an axiom stock and be done with it, but im not certain how much weight i would really save? Plus i could always chop up a wood stock and save even more weight. I do like the idea of cutting up a wood stock and making it my own, but I really want a pistol grip.

Is there any other way to get a pistol grip thats cheaper than buying a whole stock? And keep in mind I can only do basic wood working.

Thanks guys

Though I have no experience with them, im sure someone will chime in and tell you how awesome the axiom stock with a tac sol barrel is. Something else to consider if you really want to go with a pistol grip but don't want an all out AR style would be a vertical grip style like the boyd's pro varmint. Hogue also makes a nice looking thumbhole type stock (there is a build using one for sale on the EE right now). As far as the barrel, you can't go wrong with the tactical solutions in the weight and accuracy department.

The wood stock I cut the forarm down for my 8.5" barrel was I think around 1lb, was lighter then the syn. Guess the axioms is 1lb 2 oz. I didnt like the axiom when I had it mounted on my vanguard because it flexed like a twisler.

Axiom stock is 1lb 2 oz, and right now my syn stock is 1lb 2oz. Not sure if you going to get lighter then that, heavier if add a pistol grip. My wood stock cut down was 1lb 1oz.

Only bonus with the axiom is the buttstock and pistol grip. It will fit alot of people. If you cut down a wood stock. Youll need to add alot of rubber to adjust the length. That added weight.

Wouldn't be able to cut anything other then the forearm. With a Dlask 8.5" barrel on a wooden or SYN stock. The curved buttpad if that wasn't there and it was flat, then the gun wouldn't be legal. It adds the length required.

I dunno anything around 5lbs is pretty light even for a kid. Why are adults whining about making super light weight rifles anyways? Seems like awful alot of threads about making super light 10/22s. Do what I do. Make a TP holder with a weight and do some curls. Everytime you use the bathroom you can lift some weight.

It was pretty cheap:) I had the stock laying around and I think the pistol grip and butt-stock combined were about $50 and the quad-rail was about $35. Just doing the pistol grip would be really cheap and fairly easy.
Where did u find the grip and stock?
Thanks for the responses guys
