These are nice pistols had a chance to shoot one a couple of years ago just never saw too many around to purchase..

Any one know a good solution for mounting an optic to a Smith 41 other than a gun smith..

That is a good suggestion, would be worth the time to contact IRUNGUNS.
Yep, I agree, simply did not want to damage the original open sights barrel.
That is why I chose the Clark barrel, very flexible for mounting red dot or optical sights.
