M14 op rod rubbing on sight agustment knobs

I would bet money your barrel is off index (most likely over indexed ie your sight is canting to the left when you look through the sights) which is making your op rod guide off center.
That is putting pressure upward on the rod as it cycles making it push up and out of the track where the notch is in the receiver track.
Check under your barrelas well. Make sure your op rod is not rubbing hard under the barrel just ahead of the receiver! I just found this issue in a rifle I picked up used. It was rubbing so bad I could barely cycle the action by hand. There was a badly machined "hump" under the barrel jutting out that I had to file down slightly to make the op rod clear. Just one mroe thing to look for.

My assessment based on experience from the info you supplied. Don't fret though, it's an easy easy fix that won't cost you much money at all Sir.

It was cdn tire on Leila.. The guy I was dealing with was more than helpful! Hopefully I have all my issues sorted out now.. This is my first gun of this kind. Never had any issues with my supernova when I bought it. I guys I'm just use to northamarican quality.

Aye, North American quality these days comes with North American price tags unfortunately. Don't get me wrong, I love me my Rem700 AAC in .308, it's a thing of beauty to behold in every aspect. But it cost almost $850 taxes in for just the stock rifle.
The Norinco M305 is a hell of a rifle. The reason being is because the M14 is a great rifle design. The M305 is very cheap in dollars for what you get. It's a diamond in the rough. If you know how to cut it and polish it yourself, then you see the real value in it lol

I shot my old Norinco side by side with a close friends NM $3K M1A. 5 rounds with his, 5 rounds with my Norc using the irons seated at 150 meters at the local range. Same ammunition. I could not get a better group with the M1A. The results were about the same with a stock Norc and the only upgrade being a National Match rear sight assembly on my rifle. Even if the group was smaller with his rifle it sure as f**k wouldn't going to be $2,600 worth smaller!

I always had this theory that the guys who hate on the Norinco M14's are the types who call a $100 an hour plumber when a pipe in their house leaks instead of just turning off the water themselves, cutting the pipe and sweating on a new fitting if you catch my drift....
Bang for buck the Norinco M305 is still one of the best deals going in Canada at the moment, close second maybe only to the SKS.

I do agree it is a hell of a deal! I'm just not use to having to fix something that is brand new... I am a Sks owner as well and love that gun. It's fun to shoot and really accurate. It's just the whole thing with having to fix a brand new gun that I haven't fired yet verses my 54 Tula that is 60 years old. All I had to do to that thing was clean her up. And it was like it was brand new.

Consider it a "kit gun" or a "project gun", like when you buy a plastic model kit as a kid. Helps with the frame of reference.

Thanks you guys are a ton of help for a new m305 owner! Some really good people on here! Haven't took it apart yet. I was too busy playing mr mom last night. But I did take a look at it and noticed the Safty dosnt engage... So once again heading back to the stope today and going to see what happens.. Many they can just switch out the trigger group. We will see if not I might swap the whole thing out for a 22" one don't really want to tho.

The Norinco triggers groups tend to not be "drop in" fit. I have the feeling that each one is "hand fitted" (in quotes because that sounds more fancy than it should) to each rifle.

When I had 3 M305s. two of the trigger groups would not work properly in the other rifles. The third trigger group would work in one of the other rifles, but not the other one.

Low quality control, but good bang for the buck.

The safety can be fixed sometimes by replacing the safety sear in the trigger group. I did this to one of my trigger groups. Others more mechanically inclined than me have had luck with hand filing the trigger sear to fit. Another technique for an overly tight trigger group is to forcefully operated it (with a gloved hand) for several hundred cycles to wear it in (break it in)

Seen.
Like I said above though, it's not "fixing it" just tweaking it to make it perfect.
The effort is minimal and the rewards are very great grasshopper ;)
